View Full Version : LAR Grizzly .45 Win Mag
Anyone own one? My dad just handed his down to me. I'm not on my computer so I don't have pics handy but here is a stock photo. Does anyone have any load data? I beleive a .45 ACP die should work if it will adjust enough to make up for the length? I have 2 cases of ammo that he gave me with it...one is Winchester Supreme and the other is standard Winchester. I've drooled over this gun for over five years, and when I went home last week to visit the parents he said "Take it before I sell it!" I didn't argue as you can imagine. I haven't done alot of looking, but I believe they quit making factory ammo for it...but I could be wrong. As far as I know, the only handgun that is still in production that fires the .45 Win Mag is the Wildley. Anyway, here is the stock pic I found on the net.

Any info or experiances are much appreciated!

Also, if anyone hears of the .357 mag, or the 10mm kits for sale please let me know. I have found a few, but the sellers seem to think they're worth more than the gun.

I'm not so sure you can reload win mag brass with an ACP die. Same diameter, but damn if that side wall isn't hella longer. Ammo for it is hard to come by. Save any and every piece of brass you find for it.
It an interesting cartridge. I think if you had the tools to do it, you could make cartridges for it out of 30-06 brass (maybe 308 brass too?), but I've never owned this caliber to check dimensions and test this out.

Nice pistol,
I've always wanted one, I think for sure you need different dies.
There are a few factory rounds for sale but takes some searching. Brass is available from Starlinebrass.com

Hornady has one die that lists .45 ACP, .45 AR, and .45 Win Mag all in one die. From a little research, its looking a .45 ACP die will work.

I've fired a mag thru one of those. Keep in mind that my first handgun at 18 yoa was a Ruger Super Blackhawk, I shoot at least 1,000 rounds a month thru all kinds of guns, own and shoot an original Pasadena .44 Auto Mag. I hated the Grizzly, it scared the crap out of me and after the first shot I couldn't hit the broad side of a battleship. I have no idea if the loads were "standard" or hot, it didn't matter to me. I handed that pistol back to the dude and shook my head as I walked away.[Luck]
It is alot of fun to shoot. I didn't think it stung much more than .44 mag wheel gun, but there is quite a difference in the Grizzly and my Desert Eagle .44. Both of which are BB guns after shooting the .500!
(someone buy it and find out!)[M2]
