Just would like to know were you folks have gotten decent pricing on safes? Anybody ever catch one on sale ?
Me looking so far looks like delivery charges are around 300.00 bucks across the board.
Thanks in advance !
I've no experience with them but theres a place facing i-70 on the south service road between quebec and dahlia that had a sign something like "the safe outlet warehouse"
Contact Opie011 on this board. He has had some for sale lately.
I've got a lust for a Ft. Knox, and I'm thinking about these folks. http://www.hilltopsafes.com/
gander who normally has aweful prices in general runs a sale on safes every now and then
I got the 48 gun fat boy jr (its a low end liberty model) for $999 and delivery from hamblin was $275 ish
48 dont mean it'll hold 48, but its pretty big
scoped rifles and ARs take up a lot of slots

I picked up a new $1100 safe for $650 plus $50 delivery to my garage from a guy selling scratch & dent Liberty safes on craigs list last year. He was in a mechanics shop just west of Wadsworth on 38th Ave.
I'll look and see if I still have his number.

I bought some of these things (Rifle Rods) last fall. I think I increased my storage ability by 50%. I can get the guns in the back out a lot easier. I get a lot less safe dings and scratches too.

Costco
^^^Honestly this is not a bad idea! I bought the Winchester Safe made by Granite and it's not a bad safe.
same here, With the specs on it you cant come close to the $550 price. I am a little nervous about no backup system to the electronic lock.....

They have a great safe sale every now and again, and ask around for discount codes, sometimes it's up to 20 percent off large purchases and they DO honor them for sale items.
It's been years since I bought a safe, but what I learned about safes was that while no two manufacturers build alike, there are some features that are laughable and some that aren't.
1 - "ten gauge steel" sounds big, it's NOT. It's .14 inches thick hardly what I'd call thick. An air nibbler can take it out in minutes. The majority of safe walls are 10 gauge.
2. bolt anchoring is important to deal with prybar attacks. Everybody does 1 inch bolts, but what do they anchor to? 10 gauge with a little reinforcement?
3. Bolt your safe in the corner of your room. Buy the safe with the door that has the hinges AWAY from the wall, it's much more difficult to pry at the frame when the wall is in the way.
4. Get and use a motion sensor interior alarm in your safe room with a hidden disarm switch. You dont need a code, just a 10 second delay so that you can throw the disarm switch. Wire an alarm speaker in your house and OUTSIDE your house. Noise scares them off, you don't have to connect it to an alarm system - they will BELIEVE it is connected to an alarm system. If your neighbors know you own guns tell them what it means when the alarm goes off, they'll call 911 for you.
5. Owning guns is like owning cash. You don't tell people you have 20,000 dollars in cash in your house, you shouldn't tell them about your guns either. Home invasion is a very real threat. Your kid's friends are your worse enemies, sure the friends might be honest and normal - but kids TALK and things like your gun collection will spread like wildfire in their circles. If anybody asks, you are a hunter with a couple of rifles your father bought you - drill this into your children, that they do not talk about your gun collection. Never load or unload your guns out in public, always do it in your garage OR at night when nobody is looking.
6. Fire protection? Try drywall. Seen the ad for "quad layer fire protection"??? It's two sheets of 1/2 inch fire rated drywall that they paint to match your safe. A "fire package" is almost always just this. Save 300 dollars and cut your own then spray paint it. Oh, the quad wall stems from their ability to count each side of the drywall as a "fire barrier". If you're worried about fire damage to your guns (who isn't) then mount the safe along an outside wall or corner of the house and update the local fire dept as to it's location, they will (really) put water on that area if it's in their database.
7. Got tools that might make getting into your safe easy? Oxy torch? Air nibbler? Grinder? Lock them up!

I'm in and out of mine 2-3 times a day and haven't had to replace the batteries since I bought it 6 months ago.

I bought a safe at Sportsman's Warehouse in Thornton on 84th Ave. I think I got a good deal. I bought a manual combination tumbler, only because they still work in case of an EMP.

Speaking of an EMP, I don't remember the brands, but a couple of years ago there were some articles about taking a " stun gun " and zapping the keypads of digital safes and they opened right up. So research the safe before you buy.

Very true. Most modern day safes with digital keypads won't allow that anymore...when zapped the board will fry and not release the bolt. I do perfer dials more than digital but either works for me...plus I try to beef up any weak point of the safe. Just remember, if the bad guys want in they will get in!!!

You can always remodel the closet to fit the safe.

I'd have to remodel the room to fit the safe. Too much effort. [ROFL1]
