[RANT ON][Rant1]

Same story…different year…I could fund my own defense, basic & necessary services, infrastructure and social program budgets for less…including and after any post deduction relief. ß Rhetorical ‘posturing’ to emphasize that I continue to be disgusted and flat-out fucking sick of my tax burden and responsibility simply for being part of the productive class in this country.

As we often hear from many of the good folks, I, too, do NOT mind submitting my equitable share, a debatable topic in and of itself, to fund the success of this country, I really don’t, hell, I WANT to pay for our greatness to an extent but…but… 1) We’re far from great and deteriorating more every year as quality and value across-the-board decreases for the productive citizens, 2) I do not accept how the monies are allocated to a great extent by a shit-bag political class (Fed, State and Local) that I have no respect for and 3) No way in hell anyone will convince me otherwise with counter-discourse on fiscal & tax policy, economics, etc. Bottom-line to those who try to rationalize that; “we do have a fair burden at the individual level," that "in comparison to other nations we are better off," and the best line, "I don’t mind paying more in taxes," etc. I’ll re-state for the record that you people are fucking naive idiots. I won’t rant about the ludicrous corporate and business tax shit-hole we contend with and will save that topic for another day but…

If I could only “opt out” of this national cluster-fuck and go it alone, I would [ß worthless folly but it makes me feel good to say it on tax prep day every year [BooHoo]].

In closing, I’m one of those that actually enjoys doing my taxes, I do, great opportunity for me to “get a bit deeper” and reflect even more on my personal financial management plan, etc., but damn…makes me fucking angry to see my bottom-line burden while watching what is happening to this once great country.

[RANT OFF]

Ok…I feel better…I still feel “ass-raped” again but…I feel better… [Tooth]

Fine performance. Eloquently and articulately stated with a fine edge and accentuated with just enough blue-collar profanity to appeal to the working man audience of the forum.

Nicely done.

And I feel your pain, too. It's no wonder some people feel the only way to make a statement about the IRS is to fly their airplane into an IRS building. I don't agree with it...but I understand it.

I feel you... This year is not as bad as last year, but our tax is still in the 5 digits. I wish I could pick up a m82 and write it off as office security. [Rant2]

I hear ya...the fiscal mismanagement perpetrated by a government that expects its citizens to do what it cannot should bother anyone. Anyone who isn't firmly attached to the govt. teat, that is.

At least we have the satisfaction of knowing we actually work for our living. To me, that's something.

You realize Kalifornia takes your money from this year too
you have to PROVE you didn't earn it in Kali.

they're pretty bad about it.
(NY is too)

Just remember when it comes to the government it ain't your money, it's their money. You may have done the blood, sweat, and tears part but the gov gets it's cut first, last, and always.

And the gov wonders why I hate it.[Rant1]

Oh yeah, I know I have to file in CA and CO now. Usually do my own taxes, but I'm probably just going to have someone do them for me this year. Got married, moved out of state, etc...

The couple hundred bucks for an accountant will more than pay for itself.

They are busy as hell right now (obviously), so if you want in, you better go NOW.

but one penalty (easy easy easy to make a mistake) more than wipes out the few hundred bucks you save trying to do them yourself.

So I have a quick question... for those who are self employed... do you ever NOT filed extension? It's a tradition for me to pay my tax in the fall of the next year.

Several years ago I messed with the tax man. The tax man has been messing with me for the last several years as a result... I won't be doing that again.

Here's the kicker for me. I learned a lot about the tax system and became quite proficient with tax law due to tax attorney's being as equally large a blood sucker as the IRS. This year I decided to share my tax knowledge with several others and do their taxes for them. I did my babysitters taxes this year and boy oh boy.

My babysitter comes from money and doesn't do much other than babysit for me, work a part time from time to time, and spend family money. My babysitter made $9K this year including the 6K she made from me (and didn't pay taxes on. She paid a few hundred dollars in taxes this year. She got back almost $5K because of the EIC!!

Why do we have to pay so much in to the system? So people making $9K a year can get paid by the system. [Rant1]

+1 this.

I had been using H&R Block for a few years but got sick of paying their outragious fees. So, in 2009 I tried to get a CPA to do my 2008 taxes but he was booked solid already.

I used to be a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA Rep) so I decided to do them - using TurboTax.

Two weeks ago I got a certified letter from the IRS indicating that I owe them $8k+ in taxes and more than $1200 in interest and penalties. I've reviewed their letter (which makes no sense to me) and am trying to get in to the CPA who did my 2009 taxes and will be doing my 2010 taxes - and have him review/redo my 2008 taxes to see where things got screwed up.

One thing is for certain: I'll NEVER use TurboTax again!

8.5 for the rant....

Wonderfully done but I felt it was a little restrained in "good taste". Which is applaud-able.

I make decent money, but with my debt to income ratio it's a penance. The wife and I will owe $1200 this year. Last year I had to pay $300. I don't get it but the tax lady says it's all on the up and up... So now we must scramble to find $1200. We'll survive. No matter how much they rape us it is nice to know that we are not part of the "problem" and we actually try to be productive members of society, etc....

i have in the past. usually when i need more time to come up with the cash.

we are planning some moves this year, our house is for sale, looking for a bigger one, being self employed i will have to have those taxes filed for the mortgage so we will be paying them now. i owe a ton, but have been putting money away all year so i have just about all of it in the bank already.

going to hate to see it go to the govt though.
