Copied parts of this from foxnews.com today. It just proves that guns don't kill people, knives do...

NEW YORK -- A graffiti artist armed with five knives went on a bloody 28-hour rampage across New York City, fatally stabbing his stepfather, ex-girlfriend and her mother, running down a pedestrian with a stolen Lexus and knifing a subway passenger before being arrested in Times Square, police said.

The stabbing spree started just after 5 a.m. Friday, when police say Gelman fatally knifed his stepfather, Aleksandr Kuznetsov, at their apartment in Brooklyn's Sheepshead Bay neighborhood. Gelman had gotten into a fight with his mother after she refused to allow him to use her Lexus, and Kuznetsov intervened and was attacked, Kelly said.

Police found the 54-year-old man's body at his home in the predominantly Eastern European immigrant neighborhood. The Ukrainian-born Gelman and his mother became naturalized U.S. citizens in 2004 or 2005, Kelly said.

At about 10:30 a.m., several blocks away, Gelman entered the home of his ex-girlfriend and used a kitchen knife to fatally stab her mother, 56-year-old Anna Bulchenko, Kelly said. When 20-year-old Yelena Bulchenko arrived home at about 4 p.m., she found her mother dead in a pool of blood and called 911, police said.

Gelman apparently was still in the house, chasing Bulchenko as she fled outside and stabbing her 11 times as she died, Kelly said.

I don't mean to take away from the seriousness of this, but it just burns me that things like this happen and it's the man, but people get shot and it's the gun.

Good thing no one in NY can defend themselves with a gun! Otherwise this rampage could have ended before it began, preventing much needed legislation and funding to law enforcement.

This is an outrage! We must ILLEGALIZE kitchen knifes! All silverware set shall be limited to ONE plastic knife per set.

RIP to the victims.

If it isn't a gun, it's always the person. As soon as they use a gun, it's the gun. I've seen this for years. Years ago, I remember a guy took his Cadillac and drove it (purposely) into a daycare (in Cali) filled with kids, injured a bunch (thank God none of them were killed) and it was page 42 news. If he had used a gun, it would have been page 1 nationwide. I honestly believe most of the reporters don't really give a crap about the victims, only how they can sensationalize it if it fits their parameters. Bunch of vampires...

Graffiti artist? ... Isn't graffiti by definition an illegal activity?... So, I guess I know some marijuana artists... Weird.

Don't worry, they won't ban all knives. Just the semi-full-auto sniper baby-cop killer assault ones.

Next time you go to Target or WalMart, there will be a waiting period on all flatware. Better stock up now!

On a different note: my father was in Brisbane Australia last year visiting my sister. He opened his pocket knife (2" blade) in a store to cut a package open and my sister had to tell him to put it away quickly because it is illegal to open a knife in public. ?!? [Shock]

From Fox News

Gelman was wrestled to the ground by three cops and the man he slashed, ending a 28-hour rampage

From what I have seen on the news and in an interview with "the man he slashed" on the subway, it was that victim that did most of the wrestling, not the police. He fought off the BG after he was attacked on the subway and the police came in afterward to detain and arrest him. He did however receive nasty wounds as you would expect from a knife fight.

Yup, the cops were minutes away when seconds count (for this guy at least, the other victims were shit out of luck) and another ordinary citizen/victim stopped the BG. But only cops should have guns............

No, they are legal, you just have to swap out the middle pin with a US manufacture to comply with 922R, and do not, do not try to drill a 4th pin to tie a lanyard to. Thats constructive intent my friend. Of course, if the knife blade is over 11 inches long, it's classed under sabre regulations and you'll have to fill out a form with the ATKWF (alcohol tobacco knives weed and fireworks) pass a background check, then get the knife and knife handle engraved with your initials. Don't forget to microstamp the bladed edge with the details as well, so it's California legal. You'll have to re-stamp it every time it dulls to stay on the up and up. Now, if it's under four inches in length you are going to fall under shiv regulations, so make sure you do not modify it at all or it will be an unregistered home build. You also have to be 21 and pass a culinary class in order to purchase a shiv class knife. Now, if it's a double edged blade under 4" long then it gets really hairy, see at that point, you fall under dagger, shiv, culinary and SBS (short bladed sword) regulations. You will need to pay $200, not pass go, pass a background check, turn in your get out of jail free card, skip a turn, bribe a CLEO or forge a signature, take three classes a year, and pay to have an annual inspection of your home; additionally the culinary SBS dagger shiv will have to be kept in a segregated room from any person in the home besides the permit owner. This room has to have barred windows and a safe door weighing no less than 200 pounds, as well as steel framing at minimum, concrete preferred. No more than $2500 in knives can be placed in a single room. Additionally, the culinary SBS dagger shiv should never be displayed to anyone under the age of 21; and all children in the household shall attend educational classes explaining while knives are evil.

Some of the regulations also cross over, so make sure you check before you buy! This only covers the federal side of things by the way. You will have to research your state and local bladed laws on your own.

Okay, I'm glad everything's clear as day, now lets have fun! I'm going to eat a steak with my registered SBS. What are you doing? We could all meet up for steak. Don't worry, the LEO are friendly here. One even came over and asked about it, then he showed me his katana.

I may or may not be in compliance with one or all of these regulations. Umm, what I meant to say is I don't own any knives, I only use chopsticks because I don't want my family exposed to those dangerous and deadly weapons inside my home. Knives were originally designed as combat weapons to kill people and therefore don't have any place in sports or hunting....or eating
