View Full Version : Does anyone here own a CZ P-07 Duty?

I have an M&P 40c. I don't shoot very well with it. I shoot noticeably better with my full size CZ 75B. I don't know if it is the longer sight radius, less recoil (I can hardly tell), or what, but I shoot much better with the full size 9mm.

Here is the kicker. Other people (who are much better shots than I am), also shoot poorly with my M&P. I shot my buddy's XD40 sub compact and I felt that I had much better aim. When he shot my gun, he was all over the place and even stopped mid magazine to ask me what the deal was.

I've shot other guns of other sizes and also shot better with those than with my current gun. I'd rate myself as a fairly poor shooter, but the fact that I can shoot so much better with other guns gives me hope.

I'm considering trying to trade my very used M&P in for a CZ P-07, but haven't had the opportunity to fire one. I'd just like to know from someone who owns one what kind of experience they've had with theirs. I remember when CZ brought out the Omega trigger system, it was all the rage. Now I've been hearing of people having problems with it.

The P-07 Duty is slightly larger than the Smith, but I've CCW'd my full size 75B before without too much of an issue.

**Yes I was asking about pocket guns a while ago. Yes I still want one, however I feel like I need to work out my issue with shooting a regular compact gun before I go smaller. Also, I've done the pen test. I can dry fire the crap out of the gun without the penny falling off the front sight.

I've never traded a gun before, and was hoping I could get enough for my Smith to cover at least half the cost of a new P-07 Duty. Is that unrealistic?

I haven't shot an M&P compact, but my M&P9 fullsize is the most accurate gun I've ever shot. Even over my CZ 75BSA. Something might be up with your gun?

Finding holsters for CZs is pretty difficult, in my experience. Just one negative to throw out there, with no experience with the P-07.

I've thought that something might be up with my gun, but I don't know enough about guns or shooting to make that call. Everyone else seems to have a wonderful experience with their M&P pistols. Me, not so much. It was the first gun I've ever purchased, so I'm kind of attached to it even.

Understood on the holster issue. I know that BadShot and Nohgerli(?) could make something up for me though.

Yeah, I'd say it was you, but if other people are shooting it and having issue...

I have no idea what could go wrong with a gun to make it inaccurate. If the sights were off, you'd be consistently inaccurate. You make it sound like there's no rhyme or reason.

Yeah I completely forgot about that..obviosuly BadShot or Nogaroheli could get you squared away.

At one point, when I lived very close to Green Mountain Family Shooting center, had time to dry fire for hours a day, and could afford to shoot nearly every weekend, I saw my groups tighten up noticeably. That was years ago though, and still not what I would consider "satisfactory." I feel like I should be able to shoot bowling pins pretty consistently, out to 20 yards, for a carry gun. CZ -yes. M&P - laughable.

Also, the M&P has always shot low. I remember reading tons of threads about how to line up the sights, because I was sure that I was doing it wrong. I often have to aim as much as 5-6" over the top of the target in order to hit it. I once ran through an entire magazine during a match, trying to hit a 4" steel plate at about 10-12 yards. I hit the rack every single time, right in the middle, but about 1 inch lower than the plate. I literally had to wait for the laughter to stop during my mag change, before someone told me that I was shooting too low. So I aimed about 5" higher and got the plate down.

This is weird, because I'm usually pretty okay with shooting poppers at a match because I just hit them low. You'd think it would be the same with bowling pins (to some extent) but I was all over the place trying to shoot those. I could hit the pins the most consistently at about 10 yards, but anything closer or further and the accuracy really declined. Very strange.

Bump for anyone who missed this. Kind of late for the bump.

I have one and LOVE it. Not much experience with a lot but works for me. I have the 9mm, live close to south site, and have a lot of time on my hands. PM me, good excuse to shoot.

Okay, so I went shooting on Friday at The Shootist.

First of all, they had TWO used P-07s there (both in 9mm). The SA trigger pull was probably the lightest I've ever felt. It did have a lot of take up though. This gun is on my very short list now.

As far as how I shot with my other guns, I shot very well that day. I don't know what the deal was, but I really felt like I patterned better with the M&P that day, than I ever have before. I only shot the M&P at 5-15 yards, but was able to keep all the shots on the reduced silhouette. Much better than I remembered. More than good enough to return my confidence in using this gun as a carry gun. Oh yeah. I also shot about 30 rounds (individually) while drawing from my holster from concealment. Every shot was well within Center Mass at 5 and even 10 yards. I won't be doing any quick draw head shots, but I was much better than I've been in the past.

As for the CZ, I've never put that gun on paper before. I was very pleasantly surprised to say the least. This is the first time I've ever been able to fire a whole magazine, and have my group size be consistent enough that I started to make ragged holes. It wasn't just one big ragged hole, but it was a way better group than I ever thought I was capable of. At 25 yards, I was able to keep 15/16 shots within one of those 8" square, Shoot N See targets.

I was so impressed with the CZ groups, that I even tried some double taps and rapid firing. I was absolutely blown away that I was able to keep double taps within inches of each other. Some were even touching!

I think that I shoot better with a SA/DA gun than I do with a striker fired pistol. Over all, I was very happy with the results on Friday. Thanks for listening, and thanks for the input Beprepared. Unfortunately, I won't have a lot of time to go shoot with you, but I do appreciate the offer.

ETA: Also, there was a guy next to me trying out his brand new S&W Bodyguard .380. He let me shoot a magazine through it. I couldn't hit crap with it, but it was fun to shoot. The kick from that little gun makes it feel very manly.

Had a PO7 Duty in .40....sold it..regret it.

Very nice platform, about the same size as a G19/23 but better ergonomics. Da trigger smooth, SA trigger smooth and VERY FAST.
Excellent CCW, concealed great.
