The wife and I decided to get a SHTF gun so...
I signed up and completed hunter safety.
I checked out the local sporting goods shops and almost got a Ruger ranch rifle.
Then I read a bunch of stuff on the internet and found my choices narrowed down to AR or AK.
I decided it had to be an AR and found Jensen arms online, nice because Loveland isn't far.
The cheaper guns they had were DPMS RFA2-L16, Rock River Arms AR 1294, and the Armalite AR 180B.
I walked out of there with the RRA A2 mid and $400 worth of ammo, mags, etc.
Still haven't shot the dang thing yet. I hope this messy weather clears up so I can drive out to Pawnee.
My other gun is a 40+ year old Savage Anschutz 22 that My grandfather gave me.

This gun is burning a hole in my pocket - I'm headed out to the pawnee range today to break it in and get the feel of it.

Well I got all of 22 shots through it - nice gun!
At 100 yards, iron sights and a noobie shooter, my group is 10" high and 7" wide. I am darn pleased with that. I've got lots to learn and there's only one way to do it - practice.
Show up at a shoot, We can get You sighted in and all the pratice can stand. Plus it's fun.

Well, I would like to do that, but grabbing that much time away from the wife and kid is difficult. Whereabouts is the north location?
North Shoot is just west of Lyons.

OK, looking at the google maps satellite photo I see a big rectangular open area to the north of 7, just east of the intersection with 72. it looks like it has a berm to the northwest. Do you drive up to the open area or park on the road?

You have to park on the road and hike in about 100yds. So pack kinda light.
Welcome to the forum! 22 rounds on your first shoot? I don't know if I could put less than a couple hundred through my AR at a time.

Yeah, I discovered that feeling myself yesterday. Dang break-in procedure. What a drag. I only had a few hours and the driving eats up 75 minutes right there. It was real exciting when I started shooting 2 rounds between cleanings. I can't wait to see just how bad my accuracy gets when I try to shoot a bit faster.
Does your RRA have a chrome lined bore?

No, I'll just have to replace the barrel after a month or 2 - I think that's how soon It'll take to get 10,000 shots thru it.
Kidding aside, That's what they had in stock cheap at Jensen. If there had been one there on the low end with chrome, I would have shelled out the extra.

Click on the link and join up it's got a marker for the North Shooting Area. Just click on the North Shooting Area marker and zoom in on it and it will take you right to the spot. Also you can leave a message and post a photo, We'd love to see that new Rock River AR ! See you on the map, Larry [postal] http://www.frappr.com/coloradoar15shootersclub

Hey larry, I went and did the group map thing and put down a marker, moved it a little, editted it and ?? it disappeared. Probably operator error.
Hopefully I can get to the shoot and then at least a few will see the new baby.
