Need some more mags for my P229R, but I can't find em for less than $45 around the metro area. OEM is first choice, but I wouldn't mind Mec-Gar mags too much. I had a Mec-Gar mag for my old P228, and it never missed a beat. I've seen some ProMag ones online for around $30, anybody got any experience with these? Are they even worth considering?

I bought 10 ProMags once, hoping that I would get 5 that worked.
After some work, I got what I paid for. About half of them did.

Mec-Gar makes/made a lot of mags for manufacturers. I think they make/made the OEM mags for SIG.

Never had a problem with them myself.

I can't tell the difference between factory and Mec-gar. For the price it's a no brainer...

I agree about Mec-Gar, the issue is finding em for the 229. That said, both my "factory" mags are marked "Made in Italy." I'm thinking SIG does sub theirs out to them. Too bad the 229 came with 2 10-round California mags... I've heard from a couple people not to pay money for ProMags, but just wanted to see if anyone knew firsthand. Thanks for the input guys.

topgunsupply.com has factory 229 mags in if you're still looking. I'd hold out for mec-gars myself.

They tend to restock often and I've made a lot of purchases from them. Good customer service.

I've owned quite a few Sigs, and personally would only purchase factory Sig mags for them. The only gun I would purchase aftermarket mags for is the 1911. Nighthawk Custom makes/markets the best mags for any type of 1911- bar none. Imho.

I only buy from them anymore. Aside from pmags they are the cheapest around.

33 bucks for what you describe. Save the 10rd mags and swap the followers out with a standard capacity, depending on the mag you can get 1 more round in a standard with the 10rd follower.
