Neophyte AR shooter, but knows everything. Had a broken bolt, actually in half in a Stag arms. Stag took care of the matter - no problem. However it is now replaced with a Fail Zero bolt and carrier. The failure occurred after 8,000 rounds. Most of my shooting is prairie dog and coyote.
Located: Unincorporated Jefco - Littleton
My claim to fame is that I am the Dad of Rob the gunsmith at Bowers Tactical.
Look forward to future interaction.

Er, isn't that Bower's Tactical?
It's okay. You're new so we'll only harass you a little bit; for now.
Must be nice having a smithy in the family. I need to poke and prod my son in that direction.
8k rounds through your AR and the bolt broke. Dang. How was Stag to deal with are getting a replacement? I've got a Model 1L, but have less than 100 rnds through it so far (never get a chance to get out and shoot it).
Well, you're here now so if you don't start posting in the trheads and making a general (pleasant) nuisance of yourself then you're doing something wrong.
Oh, and you've gotta pull some strings to get us all really good discounts @ Bowers.

Welcome aboard, Pop!
You will all have to be patient so far as responses. Like many of us, my father is easily distracted on line by internet sales fliers indicating cheap .223
To answer the question about the infamous bolt, STAG customer service was top notch, and sent a complete new bolt and carrier, with charging handle, post haste, no charge, based just on the picture of the broken bolt.
I'd say their customer service is up to par. I wouldn't fret over quality either. The failure was metallurgical (there was no evidence of torquing, pressure, etc, and a pretty clean seam suggesting a flaw int he steel), and did not have any pressure signs. Basically, it wasn't catastrophic. Bolt held pressure, kept the shooter safe, and was cleared with finger tip pressure.
Shit just happens some times. And before anyone says anything about quality control, i have seen these failures before... all on COLTS.
So, lesson is, have a spare bolt.
Oh, and my dad's name isn't really Ralph. He just sucks at picking chat handles ;)

Welcome to the forum!
Beware my powers of observation (Bauers). I've only been to Bowers Tactical several times and Rob worked there for quite a while.
Stag was wonderful. Responded positively, quickly and appropriately. New bolt, carrier and charging handle back to me with the speed of FedEx. The firearm is guaranteed for life, so no worries except if the bolt breaks when you need it. The a replacement would be moot.
Thanks to all for your welcome.

Read your PM's!
You MUST list your location on your profile.

To fore stall any further concerns, 'Ralph' is in JeffCo just outside the metro area.
I can only assume since there hasn't been a profile update that i will have to address how that function is used... bear with me mods...

No worries. As per our conversation last night/early this morning, I'll leave it in your hands.
If you'd be kind enough to help him re-config his PM notifications in his profile too that would be AWESOME!

His PMs were set up fine. He just wasn't on the forum until i told him you were waiting on a location update.
Social media is to some, foolishly as it may be, a luxury more than a priority.
Once i explained the casualties induced by his negligence, he updated his location to prevent further losses.
