I was thinking the same thing. Cape of Good Hope to Diego Garcia then to either the Bengal coast of India or straight to India. I'm not sure I would go anywhere north of Madagascar in anything less than a DDE.
That said, I'm glad so many of the world's navies are in the region and trying to clean the area up. The ocean is a big place.

I agree...Revert to Maritime Law, trial by Captain's Mast, and execution at sea, in international waters. Or just do as the Russians do, and "release them"....to get about 100 meters away before you open up with the Quad Duece.....

That's what I was trying to recall-I don't believe the Russians have had another incident since then.

I'm also sorry to say, but they deserve what happened. If you have more money than sense and think sailing your yacht off the coast anywhere in that area is a good idea well...good luck. These people have no money, no food, no future. They will take your shit and kill you without a second thought. The world's oceans are huge and thanks to modern knowledge you can go anywhere, so maybe try to avoid the place that is known for taking your type hostage.
Also, the pirates should be thrown overboard to drown.

Cruise missiles are expensive, .50 BMG ammo much less so. Besides, if a couple of pirate bodies wash up on the shore riddled with rather large bullet holes, it may provide an object lesson in the perils of the lifestyle...[M2]

I don't take that into consideration anymore. There have been multiple attempts of drug/arms running before using Bibles as the legitimate cover. Not saying that is what the people were doing, I'm just saying that the Bible angle has nothing to do with the story. Stay away from hostile areas, if you have to go there, get governmental backed support.... no support, no-go.
I also think the pirates should be executed on sight. They have nothing to negotiate with now that the civilians are murdered. Kill 'em all and sink the yacht.

Yeah, they definitely didn't deserve what happened, but it's a risk you take by doing such things.
However, I don't go for the bible meaning they were doing good things. More people have died over bibles and religion than anything else... But maybe they were, I dunno.

I have spent a lot of time in central, southern and eastern Africa both as US Military and as a civilian. I have seen all the damage some missionaries can do and have done. But... nobody deserves to be kidnapped and murdered for sailing in international waters.
