Just thought I'd pass this along...

Dear Shotgun Owner,

I hope you're not one of those gun owners who said, "They'll never come for my shotguns."
If you are, I'm afraid the rain is about to fall on your parade. You see, the ATF is coming for your shotguns ... with a vengeance.
The ATF wants to ban the importation of any tactical shotgun it views as not meeting the "sporting suitability" use as defined in the Gun Control Act of 1968.
That means all they need to do is make up a bunch of "features" that don't (according to them) "fit" a sporting use of a shotgun.
It's an open door for an outright shotgun ban ... the very same shotguns that are probably in your gun safe right this minute.
This ban may seem too horrible and too outrageous to be real. But believe me when I tell you: This is no hoax.

Make no mistake: This ban will affect hundreds of gun makers who produce shotguns that are currently in use not only by law enforcement and the military in the United States but also homeowners who simply want an effective home defense shotgun.
The real question is, what can you do about it? For starters, get informed about these guns. Our friends at Gun Digest have just released a new book you need to own. It's called the Gun Digest Book of the Tactical Shotgun (http://paracom.paramountcommunication.com/ct/5418818:8095560026:m:1:219559310:01C81F6E19AF66A75 76556ED4947BE27). It's brand new, and you need it to make a good decision about all the new options on the market (options the ATF may soon outlaw).
This book covers everything you need to know about which tactical shotguns and accessories are the best and what will fit your fighting style and needs.
Buy this book. Then buy a shotgun. In that order.
But there's one more thing. Part of the proceeds from your purchase of this book (and my other recommended books found below) goes to support Rocky Mountain Gun Owners. So take a minute to stockpile a good assortment of books. Add The Gun Digest Book of the Tactical Shotgun (http://paracom.paramountcommunication.com/ct/5418818:8095560026:m:1:219559310:01C81F6E19AF66A75 76556ED4947BE27) to your cart while you still can.
Thanks for your support,

PS - The ATF is proposing to ban importation on all tactical shotguns it asserts don't have any "sporting" use. If they succeed, this will be the most dangerous interpretation of the 1968 Gun Control Act ever envisioned and will outlaw thousands of perfectly legitimate home defense shotguns. To give RMGO the resources to stop this threat, you can buy the newly-released Gun Digest Book of the Tactical Shotgun (http://paracom.paramountcommunication.com/ct/5418819:8095560026:m:1:219559310:01C81F6E19AF66A75 76556ED4947BE27) at special RMGO supporter prices ... plus a portion of the proceeds from your purchase will go back to RMGO to stop this backdoor gun ban.

Sorry, this reads like some fear-mongering "buy my shotgun book" ad to me.

Last I had read on other forums, the ATF was doing a study on these things, not implementing any actual bans of any sort.

I've been waiting for someone to sell a Saiga 20. Am I gonna have to order it online?

yeah, when I got that email, that's what I thought too... There was something else that RMGO sent out that sounded similar to me too, very tin foil hat-ish. Can't remember what the hell it was though... Something about they may introduce something in a bill, or somethin, but not that they were

I have a insane 12 gauge shotgun now, so I'm looking to get into the smaller gauge to make lots-o-shooting comfortable. The 20's are real uncommon though. I shoulda bought GlockDog's .410 the other week.

I'm not a fan of Dudley, most of the spam he sends out seems tin foil hattish. I had to block them to get it to stop.

Self promotion at its finest.
RMGO is a day late and a dollar short on this-the comment period on the ATF "Study of Importability of Non Sporting Shotguns" closed about a week ago. From what I have been able to glean they are taking a hard look at the Saiga that has the rail section on the forend, forgot the model #.

As far as banning "Tactical Shotguns". RIIIGHT! You gonna ban every Mossberg or 870 that has a PG, rail or sidesaddle?

Good luck with that.........

Self promotion aside, didn't the ATF make an announcement at the Shot Show that they were going to ban the importation of Saigas? Something about not meeting the "sporting" requirements.

I'm sure those evil shotguns are the preferred weapon of choice for all manner of bad guys. [Roll1]

What do you say when the police show up after you shoot an intruder?

"no, I didn't use a shot gun.. I emptied my 380 into him... I'm seriously"

I'm sure its all BS, at least I really hope so... I spent too much time and money modding my 870 into something I can put in a rack under my desk. Rat bastards

No. They simply released a letter expounding on the "importability of certain shotguns."

It wasn't a ruling, nor a change to the current law, but it was chock full of stupidity nonetheless.

More info, including a link to the original ATF letter, can be found at The Way of the Multigun (http://multigun.wordpress.com/2011/01/28/batfe-releases-study-on-the-importability-of-sporting-shotguns/)

the only thing you should be saying to any LE if you are involved in the discharging of a firearm to stop a threat is , LAWYER. nothing more, nothing less.

A good answer for LE showing up:

1) thank goodness your here!
2) I'm the one who called
3) they tried to kill me
4) I'm willing to sign a complaint
5) I'd be happy to discuss what happened as soon as my attorney arrives

State if they had accomplices and where they are
State if there were any weapons used by the assailant and where they are
State if there were any witnesses and where they are..

State that you were in fear for your life, if applicable, and of course it is applicable...

then

shut up

I am going to say,
1.That person is in need of medical attenion.
2. " I was in fear of my life"
3.Then "I need to go to the hospital" to remove yourself from the scene.

They are talking about banning IMPORTATION of some shotguns. So Dudley's email about how it could be the guns in your safe is stretching it a little. You'd still be able to buy all the US made tactical shotguns your heart desired.

That's the way I understand it anyway.

If they ban the Saiga, Russian-American Arms will import the maximum amount of parts allowed, and build them here. the price will go up by $100 or so and you will be able to buy them here.

Subject: Saiga 12s

"We have not sent out any Saiga-12s in the recent orders. Inventory is low. I don't see any more coming in the country to us. The ATF announcement and recent events have confirmed that the Saiga-12 is on it's way to be banned. Paperwork through the Imports Branch is not being approved for the Saiga-12. May 1st is the date for the next BATF announcement."

Direct from the importer....

You know, I love what RMGO stands for and happily donate but they are playing NRA fear mongering games more and more just to raise money. Why not? The NRA makes a ton of dough off that crap. It's too bad too, because I bulk ignore all RMGO emails these days (along with the NRA) and that's just a shame.

My Saiga was gray market, the mods to it all gray market, my AR was gray market (under the table at Tanner) and Sam only knows about three pistols I bought from dealers, everything else is gray. The only way Sam knows I own the Saiga is if I shoot someone with it and if that happens, then PRESTO, Officer, here is the Mossberg that did the job (after having put one down the tube earlier). Eventually I'll get a .223 hunting rifle to justify the AR too :).

I guess I'm damn happy I got my Saiga when I did!

Note to self: Like that idea of mounting a shotty under my desk, my assistant won't want to bug me so much!

Just got this email from Dudley AGAIN!

His emails piss me off because they never have any citation. Is there a bill? Is there a link to the AFT study? Is there a newspaper article? Is there any mention of this ANYWHERE? Dudley, give us something to research these things ourselves! Or is that what you want...for us to blindly believe anything you tell us???

It does no good for 2nd amendment supporters to always tell us to do something with no context. How can we form a strong argument when writing our politicians, etc.?

ME - "Hey, Mr. Politician, you have no right to take away my shotguns! Make sure the AFT doesn't do that!"

Politician - "I don't know anything about that. Where did you hear that?"

Me - "Oh, well, I got an email that said so. I have no actual information, but just don't do it."

It makes us look like fools. Like that dumb SB 1009 or whatever chain email that was going around. Totally false but how many gun people wrote politicians telling them it was an outrage? It wasn't true so it made all of them, and our cause, look dumb. And why should politicians listen to dumb people?

Dudley - Is this the type of argument you present to the government to fight for us? "Hey, I heard the ATF wants to take away or guns, stop it!" Why should I send you money when you don't seem to have any actual knowledge of what is going on. Prove to me you have knowledge, with facts, and that you can use them to help us, and maybe I'll send more money.

The smarter and more informed we are the better we can fight against the anti gun crowd. Help inform the masses Dudley, don't just try to make us sheep...
