I had a gsg5 carbine. Neat little rifle with a high cool factor but didn't seem very well built. Screws and bolts liked to loosen up on it. I even had the bolt stop screw fall out on me once. Kinda soured my opinion of it. This of course was the original version. I have no idea how the post lawsuit models are designed.

No experience with the mp15-22.

if you are going to spend the money on either, look into a company called umarex. They have a full size HK 416 full size rifles (HK's version of the AR), and pistol versions, they also have an MP5 model. They have a contract with HK to build these though so the detail and workmanship is very good quality especially compared to that of the GSG. They have other gun models also.

I have the M&P 15-22 carbine and have been very happy with it. Duplicates the full size AR very well and is cheap and fun to shoot. JMHO [Beer]

I alsohave the M&P 15-22, love it. I have not shot the GSG but from everyhting I have read I agree with mutt that they might be a little lower in quality.

thanks for all your input. it sounds like the m&p is a better choice.
