Kind of touch and go for a while, their house is only about 20-30 feet from ours...

Thankfully everyone is OK
Houses and possessions can be replaced, TFOGGERs can't

I was never in any actual danger, but we did get the Bug Out stuff ready to go, in case they told us to get out....

Thanks for the concern![Beer]

Smart move with the Bug out bag/Gear

as a former firefighter I can tell you, Fire is a fickle beast.
In the time it takes to say "Aw shit, it's shifted." Fire can take your house.

let us know if you guys need anything

Definitely will do. What freaked me out was just how fast it went from a small fire to fully involved. What's seriously jacked up is that when I was talking to the guy from the Red Cross, he mentioned that out of the last 80 or so incidents that he had been to, only my neighbors had homeowner's insurance...How the f*ck do you have a mortgage without homeowner's insurance?

Didn't think you could have a mortgage without insurance. Hmmmm.....

Glad the fire didn't get yours too.

you stop paying your mortgage.
which covers both mortgage and homeowners insurance.
I can name 5 people I know off the top of my head who haven't paid in a few years.
no chance of being foreclosed on either.

You want to talk about why the recovery is a fake, there's a big reason.
1. the banks don't have to recognize their losses
2. it's a lot easier to buy shit when you aren't wasting $1500 bucks plus on a mortgage payment/rent.

I'm with you Brian.
I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop on this "recovery."

You cannot have mortgage and no insurance. When you are in foreclosure and haven't paid your mortgage, the bank automatically 'force placed insurance' for upto the lien value. Since you haven't been paying your mortgage, you won't notice this as the bank simply add the cost to the lien - just like your missing payments.

Glad everyone ok!

they could have been renters w/our renters ins, or the unlucky ones who are unknowingly # 3 on an OWC scam.

yes, but it doesn't cover you, or your shit
just the bank
and only for the balance of loan or the replacement cost of the house whichever is lower.

your $hit is all gone.

Some years ago when I lived in VA a neighbors house went up in flames. It was one house away from mine. I saw smoke through the sidelights of my house so I went to see what was up.....I see this guy pushing his Cadillac out of his garage ahead of the fire....everyone got out safely but the house burned to the ground along with a brand new Pontiac Firebird. Scary stuff!

I'd take that as a que to move out of Aurora and closer to your shop. I only know of ONE meth house near your shop, and that was like 10 years ago.
