well i got my 6-24x pst. i thought id give a quick synopsis of it in case anyone is wondering. don't have enough info for a full out review. basically, as i can tell, its similar to a regular viper with a few nice changes. the glass seems a bit clearer, but ill be honest, i think people who talk about clarity amongst all the good quality scopes are kinda crazy. i have fantastic eye sight and can't tell a bit of difference between this, s&b, nightforce, or leupold. they all look clear enough to me that it seems im not even looking through an optic. i see hardly any haze on the edges even at max magnification. maybe its just me, but i can never tell a difference. i figure if it looks to me like i am using my own eyes with nothing else, thats pretty damn good.

moving on. so obviously the reticle is different. there isn't much to say here, everyone has their preferences and i don't think there is a "better" reticle, it just depends on what you like. obviously the pst is illuminated. i put it on max illumination and its not distracting or fuzzy. looks crisp and i can still read the numbers clear as day on the graduations. its bright enough to be seen in day time but if you had the sun ahead of you it would be tough. in doors i can see it on max but it doesn't stand out significantly, just helps when on a dark backdrop. at night, id say between 3-4 illumination is preferred. its enough that you can see it clearly but not an obstruction. higher than that just gets bright enough that i start paying more attention to the reticle than the target, but again thats probably just me.

the best fix in my opinion are the turrets. obviously you can do zero stop, which is nice, but i just love the turrets themselves. much more tactical in that they are large, don't require removing caps, and VERY crisp clicks. it doesn't make a lot of noise but takes a bit of force to turn them by turret standards. with the regular viper i sometimes made two clicks when i meant to make one. about impossible on this model. the magnification ring is pretty tight and at each graduation (the 6-24x has stopping points on 6, 8, 12, 24) it sort of slips into the spot. meaning that as you turn it you can very slightly feel it slip into the marked spot. its a nice feature.

all markings have an easy to see marker showing where its marked. for example, on the turrets and magnification ring. it makes it easier to glance up and see where things are marked at. it also comes with a sun shade which is nice i guess, but i rarely use them. the eye relief on the 6-24x is what youd expect. nothing great, but not terrible. when you zoom to that high of magnification its tough to have excellent eye relief. once i had it mounted and my collapsable stock in the right place it was easy to acquire targets because there is some flexibility with the eye relief. but if you grab the scope and try to look through it not on a rifle it can be a bit difficult to find the right picture. this isn't uncommon or strange, but i thought it was worth mentioning. ive looked through the 1-4x and obviously thats a completely different story.

ill get pics once i get my suppressor in and have my .308 build completely finished. if it starts taking an insane amount of time ill post them earlier.

A lot of us are going to want to see it. I for one have been waiting for someone to put one of these through its paces and give qualitative feedback on it from actual shooting experience.

i have fantastic eye sight

The next time you look at your keyboard, use that fantastic eyesight and look for the shift key.

All caps or all lower case is painful to read.

sorry, but writing papers and worrying about grammar on exams is enough to make me not give a hoot on an internet board. you don't have to read the posts if they bother your eyes.

sorry i try to treat everyone equally and not play favorites. hes a person just as anyone else is and im sure he would be the first to tell you. in my opinion grammar police don't have a place on the internet. i think we all get enough of that in the real world at work or school.

i have no problem with people not reading my posts or answering my questions because of grammar. its their perrogative, and i think thats fair. but to each his own if you ask me.
