Not only RIP to Buckles but to an entire generation of soldiers now gone, they can only be a memory, the sun has set. Dead and gone...every last one of them...think about when you interact with WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam vets...

Farewell and Godspeed, Corporal. With you passes a generation of American history that we'll never see the like of again.

Just read a Washington Post article on this guy. Truly amazing. 110 years old. Imagine being a WWI vet and being imprisoned during WWII, you can probably say you have seen it all...the last 110 years in the country have had some major advancements and this guy saw them...I am bewildered

Corporal Buckles!

You are relieved of your current assignment and are hereby ordered to report for your next tour of duty.

You have served in this assignment with courage and distinction and your records are already in the possession of your new commanding officer.

Stand tall Corporal, for your next assignment comes with a significant promotion.

At ease and R.I.P.

It was cool hearing an interview with him on NPR today. I guess while he was imprisoned during WWII, he got under 100 pounds, and still lead all the other prisoners in calisthenics every morning.
