Target stands
These stands are made out of 5/8" rebar. The rebar cost about $15 for each stand. 4 flat 5/8" washers, 2 cotter pins, and 2 extra wide 3/4" washers. They come apart in just a few seconds. The legs are 7 feet long each, then bent in half. so they stand around 3 feet high, 3 feet wide. When disassembled, they take up about 2 feet by 3 feet by just over an inch. They could be made smaller if your targets are smaller, or if you just wanted them smaller. I made them a little larger, so to minimize stray hits on the stands.
I will make these for people. I had originally meant them as a group target stand build at my house. But, if someone wanted them, I would be willing to make the 5/8" stands for $35. If you want some please pm me. you would have to provide straps. I will provide the 2 uprights and the crossbar and associated hardware.

Looks great. I had one similar to this, but my legs were stuck into a piece of pipe so everything was smaller to pack. Yours looks better though, I didn't think to get longer bar and bend it around like that.

I just made one out of PVC to hold upright targets, and will see if I can make it hold the AR500 target I purchased from you.

His welding is great, i have an example of a rack he made sitting in my garage - this thing wont fall apart.

i didnt weld the bench press, Jim. A pipefitter friend did. My welding is ugly, but holds strong.

refer to the first post. i updated it, if you want to purchase stands.

those are a lot more resilient than the ones that I made, nice work. How much do the targets run you and how long do they last?

EDIT: This feels like a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyways...

When shooting steel, do you need to worry about ricochets or does the steel and lead absorb the impact and drop them down?

I hope you aren't shooting steel core!! The bullet fragments upon impact. The mounting holes are such the target is at a slight angle. The splash mostly impacts the grounds and some what of a radial pattern.

so don't worry? Thanks!

when hung, the targets move back when hit. the bullet splatters and falls in an arc, shaped like an upside ice cream cone to the ground almost directly under the target.

the targets were for sale here, but are all gone. they should last for a very very long time, if you dont shoot steel core or 5 feet away.
they were $25 for 6x5 $35 for 8x8 and $65 for 12x12. 3/8""AR500

i decided if someone wanted to buy a stand but not make one. I would make 5/8" stands for $35.

Those look pretty nice. I'm tired of shredding targets - it's hard to find a good portable target that will hold up to the abuse.

Nice use of what looks to be tow straps... I never thought of that. I use conveyor belt cut into strips.

Thank you.

And now I know what Big Wall means.

the ratchet straps worked great. only one piece got hit, and it didnt do much and still holds strong with the other fibers in the strap.
