I don't know about that one, if it were me, I would need two to get all of my firearms to the range. And the range would need to have a paved road for that to get to it. [LOL]
At least you are buying something a couple of years old and saving BIG on both cost and taxes.

A friend of mine had a scion for years. Great little cars, but VERY expensive parts to buy when they break.

I have heard decent things about the Scion's but they never tickled my fancy so i never looked into them all the way.

Hopefully that car is going for a minimum of 5-6k below the cost of a new one. The belief that buying used saves big bucks is not alwaysbthe case unless you are paying cash.

Most manufacturers have great incentives for buying new cars. You should never pay more than invoice for a car and then subtract rebates. Tack on 0% financing and more often than not the cost of ownership for a brand new car is less then the cost of ownership for a car that is 2-3 years old.

Scion is a Toyota marque so they should be solid vehicles.

+1 on buying used and saving money.

I have a Sierra Denali that will be staying in the family, it holds lots of toys. I just need a car with a little better MPG for a commuter.

[M2]

And the price on the XD is listed at $10,500 on CL.

Funny thing, I went in to Macdonald VW, they were the rudest a-holes that I have encountered since I started my search. If I could find a golf for a great price I would consider it.

This, and it's relatively inexpensive.
300+ MPH, and you can get one that is a hybrid.

I'll get back on track. I picked up an 2010 Scion XB in December with 6K miles on it. Saved a hell of a lot off new and it is great. Of course, I have a an older Tacoma with 4WD for bad weather or the South Site. It is actually a big car inside. I picked it up since it is a good car for tall people and seats 4 comfortably. The first ones were tiny but they've been growing. Still good mileage and its a Toyota.

my first thought was I hope you don't get hit by a truck in that thing.

I like the idea of great gas mileage, but then the thought of the rest of the idiots out there driving reminds me that 1/2 the gas mileage is worth the safety of the bigger vehicle. if I want good gas mileage, I will ride a motorcycle.

well if you gotta buy import, best to go japanese and avoid the euro crap. (stay FAR away from VW)

but buyin' new is like flushing money down the toilet.

I'm not so sure about this idea of big, fat, heavy car = safety. I got my first SUV, an Explorer in the 90's. I was surprised to see it was registered as a truck. When I learned more I wasn't surprised. One element that contributed to SUV profits was this truck designation. There is or was different safety standards in the trucks. They were basically bolted together and cars were unibody. More recent SUV's are cars so safety is reater. Of course, the mass, high center of gravity and such don't help.

Some years ago I read an interesting article. Some investigators crunched numbers of fatalities. They examined deaths in the cars. SUV owners felt the mass gave safety but that wasn't too true. The absolute worst car was the F150,250.. series. That counted accidents where they were hit or where they hit. One of the best was the Toyota Camry. They were surprised by this and speculated the smaller, lighter cars were more nimble so they could avoid bad accidents.

I think there is another factor. Some people get behind the wheel of their Suburban/Expedition, whatever and feel invulnerable. The laws of physics don't apply. When I'm driving on ice covered roads, slowly, on the right - the ones speeding by are invariably some sort of SUV or big pick up truck.

Personally, I think a big car would be safer, providing the driver knows the limitations. The high center of gravity and weight make stopping and turning harder. On black ice, 4WD is worth squat.

I'll take my XB out and feel fine in it. When there is a lot of snow I'm out in my old truck with the differentials locked.

I know a loan officer who can help him with a loan for gas. Does he actually use it as a truck? Where I live we have a name for nice shiny, undented & scratched big pick-em-up trucks: 'Highlands Ranch Trucks'. Trucks used for groceries.

Amen.

I had a guy try bustin my balls for my 2wd.
"Awww, How cute..."
Ive had Axles, Engines, Transmissions, and Automotives/Truck parts in the back so much the ribs are just about pressed out.

I looked in the back of his Highlands rancher 350... not a scratch.

and WTF Would you put skinny off road tires on Big shiny rims and lift a 4x4 for? Do you like being stuck off road with a broken rim?

In contrary, these are his Company trucks. And out of all people, I bent his tailgate when those sheetrocks sled off the bed. He isn't supposed to drive one himself, but he would never bought these trucks for his guys and not drive one. He buys trucks every few years because they would cost too much to maintain beyond the factory warranty.

I have one of those. Well almost. I am extremely meticulous/ ocd about it. I don't mind scratching up the bed though.
It has been hunting, off road, hauled an elk out carried many 4 wheelers pulled a trailer and a boat.
My other truck is just a big redneck 4x4 off road machine that loved scratches is okay with dents and loves to get dirty!

Don't judge my spelling. Damn phone.
