What do you think? Does this help us or hurt us as gun owners?

they go to the range and shoot, then go to the bar and drink whiskey.

where's the problem again? I can't see it.

Me personaly never before or during shooting. Once the guns are cleaned and put away I do like to have a drink or 2 with friends. I think the biggest worry for this deal is people driving home drunk .[Beer]

The problem is in the wording. It is just one more thing for the liberals to point at and oooh ahhh and perpetuate the redneck, whiskey drinkin, gun toting image they try to portray about us. Is it a bad idea, hell no, it even includes transportation so you dont drive home shit faced, I would have done it. Just a bad way for it to be presented.

Never before or during, after absolutely. Just the Left, once again trying to make Gun owners look like d-bags.

They always show the cops on TV drinking at the Bar and then still packing. So,,,

I guess I'm in the minority in that I condone drinking and shooting.

Not unusual for me to go through a half gallon of water whilst shooting.

ALL the great Westerns had whiskey, guns, and wild women. Of couse, someone alway gets shot. Maybe we should go back to that mentality.

Is a liquor license required for a whiskey tasting? Yes, it's whiskey for the U.S. made stuff. Damn nit wits at Chan 9 can't spell either.

Aren't ya supposed to slam down a shot of whiskey, toss the glass in the air and then blast at it? I thought that's how it was done here in The West.....I never tried it, because if I slammed down a shot of whiskey, I'd hit the floor before the glass did. Probably shoot my foot too.

I was just thinking that people really don't think gun owners are low brow redneck morons quite enough yet. this aught to straighten that out.

Once we have this settled down, we can have that combination brewery and truck dealership we'd been hoping for, so people can see how responsible we are with potentially harmful machines...

(whether we agree with the laws or not, the handling of firearms while intoxicated is a crime. that said, marketing them together looks, well, irresponsible. When was the last time that guns and liquor were something you needed so much at the same time that you couldn't make two stops?
This kind of marketing ploy, weather it appeals to our own sensibilities, alienates the opposition further, fueling their desire to suppress our rights. What is a drink worth?)

I think this whole thing is funny, it just shows that people don't read

It is a slippery slope, greased with pure BS. One could argue that guns don't go together with anything. Would there be the same uproar if the coupon was for 2 hours at a shooting range, then 3 free book rentals from the public library? Libraries are supposed to be quite remember?

What about Shooting and Big Brother Big Sister?

FireMoth

The combination of guns and books isn't prohibited by law.

Dunno about anyone else, but I never drink(alcohol) before or while I'm handling or carrying a firearm. If I'm going to drink, I don't carry, if I'm going to carry, I don't drink. No matter how little alcohol you have in your system, if there's any when you shoot someone, it's going to be an additional complication.

FireMoth

The article implies whiskey tasting AFTER shooting.

I just think its foolish to associate too things that, if done in the opposite order, would be illegal.

Much like you can drive your car to the bar, but its not a great idea to serve drinks at the dealership

Irving

The combination of guns and books isn't prohibited by law.

And as you already pointed out yourself, the two aren't happening together; so it is a non-issue. This was made into much bigger of a deal than it should have been. If tricky wording in an advertisement is such a bad idea, then we could have the same argument over 95% of every advertisement ever produced.

The last time me and Jack D. went out together, my Model 19 got drunk and put a hole in the passenger door of my van. Luckily, it was loaded with .38 semi-wadcutter target loads and didn't go all the way through. Left a big ol' welt on the outer door skin, looked distinctly like a .38 semi-wadcutter too. Had to get the van to a body man rather quickly, before Dad saw it. I reckon he wouldn't have been amused.

A .38 is fookin' LOUD inside a closed-up van, I'll tell ya that.....

This was a LOT of years ago, many of you weren't even born yet.

I think the thing that got distorted too was that it's a whiskey TASTING event. Wine/beer/liguor tastings always serve very little alcohol per serving, and usually you're supposed to spit it out. The guy who spoke from The Firing Line made a comment about "getting drunk as possible" and I seriously doubt that would be the case.

Marketing-wise, maybe not the smartest ploy, but I don't see anything wrong with the event.

Sounds like alot of handwringing and to do about little. Surely a mark against gun enthusiasts by those who are not. Most anything is a mark against gun enthusiasts by those who are not.

I think A-lcohol
T-obacco
F-irearms
should be the name of a convenience store, not meddlesome out of control federal beauracracy.

If any one here would like to pay me $75 I will let you shoot some of my guns and afterwards drink some of my whiskey.

I have copious amounts of each but limits may be applied. [Beer]

I know this won't be seen as politicaly correct, but you guys know I don't care about that. When I go to visit my buddies in Oklahoma, we always go to my buddies range at his house and drink beer and shoot.(Lots Of Beer) However, we don't advertise it. I don't see a thing wrong with what these guys are doing, at all. I just know the left winged media and freakazouds will run with it. If they didn't have something to bitch about, they would make up something anyway. That's my take.

The bowling ball doesn't have spikey tactical rail thingys, nor is it evil-black. Its harmless.

No apologies necessary. Just keepin' the alcohol terminology straight. I'd hate for anyone to think we were a bunch of rubes for not knowing our whiskeys. [Stooge]
