Hi,

I am new to this forum and wanted to find a good place that I could shoot at sometimes.

A friend of mine taught me how to operate and the safety of an M16 rifle, and taught me how to shoot with it for awhile.

I am interested in trying both pistols and rifles - but own neither. So I do need a place that rents out guns to use. There's a place called Silver Bullet Shooting Range, but their site says they will only rent to more than one person, not to one alone.

Also, I am of East Indian ethnicity and don't want to be in a place where I am racially discriminated against - and I read somewhere that a place called Green Mountain Family Shooting sometimes had some of that going on.

Any recommendations?

Cheers

Go through the Dealers and Range Reviews section on the site. It covers your questions pretty well.

Hi,

thanks, I didn't know about that section.

Still leaves me kind of confused though...from a thread in this section the firing line is not a friendly place, and the shootist is much better and more friendly - this is also what reviews on yelp and stuff seem to say.

But in the dealers and range reviews section, they say that the shootist is not good..

doesn't help me much.

Well, as I said in my original post, this range does not offer rentals to individuals, only to two or more people.

I was in there a couple months ago, they let me shoot/rent a 1911. I was by myself.

Ah ok,

I spoke to them. Looks like I will need to take a basics class at first. They don't have any rifle classes scheduled at the moment though - which is what I think I would like more, but I can try pistols.

How is the attitude towards minor ethnicities here - particularly east indian?

Just call them and tell them your deal. Say, "I'm East Indian. I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't give me a hard time about it."

Wear some kind of anit-obama shirt in there and they'll probably give you a hug.

The store owner is a latino guy if memory serves. Don't make race and issue you may get discriminated for that alone. Enjoy your shooting time and listen to the rules. Shoot, pay, leave.
