how far are you shooting? for a 100 bucks youll get more for your money with a red dot than a scope that illuninates.

Probably 100-150 yards but nothing beyond that

It's a little more than your $100 dollar budget but it maybe worth it in the long run to get a better scope! By all means this is not the end all be all but it's pretty cheap and performs well and it has a 3x magnifier.

Thank you all for the links i found some good optics i am looking at... what does everyone think of truglo? its pretty much between truglo and a couple of primary's scopes. I like the idea of the truglo cause they have them at Dicks up the street from my house and if it goes south on me i can return it for a new one.

I've been considering one of their scopes too:

At just over 11" it's bit a long for what I want, but I like the retical. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of reviews for this particular brand...

I actually bought that exact scope but returned it. Nothing wrong with it just ended up getting a Nikon on PA. Double the price (still 80 bucks less than anywhere else) but well worth it. Optics looked good on the Truglo. I just couldn't afford another $125 scope laying around since I found the Nikon the next day. I have read really good things about PA's 3-9x scopes and their red dots.

May I suggest this:
http://www.natchezss.com/Optics.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=LX&prodID=LXCP3942IRF&prodTitle=CMPCT%203-9X42%20ILL%20RNGFIND%20RIF%20SCP (http://www.natchezss.com/Optics.cfm?contentID=productDetail&brand=LX&prodID=LXCP3942IRF&prodTitle=CMPCT%203-9X42%20ILL%20RNGFIND%20RIF%20SCP)

It looks something like this but with a range finder reticle.

I have one of their tactical 4-16x scopes and they are not bad for a $100 scope. Hard to use over 12x though. The nice part about them is that the reticle is not that "fat". It is very fine so it doesn't cover the whole target and the illumination is not so bright it blurs out the target, like cheaper ones. It has held zero through 400 rounds on my 7.62 AR. Descent eye relief under 12x, I'm not sure about the Truglo as I did not mount it. Go with the best scope you can afford. I have 2 really "cheap" scopes (NcStar and Leapers) and the optics are not that great. They have their place but 60 dollar optics are 60 dollar optics. Go with a inexpensive red dot if you are looking around that price.

I just received an M4 red dot from Primary today. Great affordable red dots. It's my second from them. [Beer]

What are the thoughts on the Schonfeld red dot sights? They are around 100 to 125 dollars. (http://www.mcssl.com/store/riflescopeco/company/schonfeld)
