I've been thinking of getting back into it after about a 20 yr break. (The game has sure changed.) Looking at bows in the $500 and down market. So far Im drooling after a PSE Bow Madness package. Want to try as many as possible before buying, but if you have a set up that you swear by, Im listening.

Any thoughts, comments, smart arse humor?[Tooth]

Are you looking to spend $500 for a package or just the bow? If you are in the $500 bow range you should have plenty of options to shoot. Don't discount used bows either, with technology changing as fast as it is a lot of guys are buying new bows every couple of years or so.

I have a Martin Cheetah and love it. It shoots fast an quiet. As for a sight, I highly recommend Sword. http://www.swordsight.com/
IMO, they are built as well as a spot hogg and way cheaper. Also, since you have been out of bow hunting for a while, carbon arrows are the way to go.

The $500 budget came from finding the PSE mentioned above as a package deal, rest, quiver, bow, sights, loop, etc. I cant seem to find it near that price else where, so was leaning toward it.

I have no doubts there are better deals to be had. Im so dated...the last time I shot the Pearson Match there was guys amazed when my Jennings bow chronoed a smoking fast for the time.......196FPS. Now guys are hitting what? nearly 400 FPS? Unreal 20+ yrs ago.

My bow shoots IBO 305 fps @ 70lbs. I believe Matthews has a bow thats pushing 400. Thats just insane. BTW, Archery talk is a great forum. Thats where I go to for anything archery.

Still have my original Bear Kodiak and Grizzly from way way back, more of a wall hanging converstaion pair now.

I have an Onieda that was way ahead of it's time when it came out shoots faster than alot of new bows today. and very quiet.

Hit the pawn shops, times are tough and people are getting rid of them.

Me and my wife both bow hunt. I have a Bowtech listed here for sale I just lowered the price on, you could get in under $500.

Another+1 for the Martin. I'm shooting a Martin Prowler. I'll bring it up to Weld next time we go and let you try it out. Since the purchase, I've never looked back. Great bow, very accurate and high speed = DEAD. Put in for area 20 private land owner archery for you btw, and area 20 rifle (deer) for your wife.

I've bow hunted last four years. Shoot a BowTech. I like shooting it.

Got interested in primitive archery. Got two stick bows I haven't really shot them. I am attempting to make some arrows...

It is always good to take your bow out and for a long walk now and then, bow's like the outdoors.

Their tuff to get with a bow. Most of the time when you see them it's too late. I shot this one at less than 20 yards.

I was able to get out and shoot today. We had easter out in Kiowa. It sucks living at Broadway and Arapahoe. You have to drive a long way to shoot your bows or your guns. That's the one thing I miss about Texas and Oklahoma. There we just shot out in the backyard.

Me and my Son's were thinking the same thing today. Glad you got to go shoot.[Beer]
