buy or don't buy? 870

so, my local boulder gun shop has a used 870, has a sure fire forearm extended magazine, 18.5" barrel, ghost ring sights, the shell holder thingy (name?) on the receiver
It's used, but very clean
He wants I think $475, but he'd go down to $450

I don't really need another night time (sure fire) 870
But, I was thinking I could buy it, sell the forearm put a Knoxx stock on it and have yet another 3 gun (which I've never competed in BTW, but I will, I swear) shotgun

What say you?

If you don't need it, don't buy it... unless you know you can turn a profit from the whole deal.
