Patrick Sweeney has an excellent book out (2005) on the AR 15 and a chapter on magazine ratings. (What works, and what doesn't).

Personally, I use the "Center," (mostly), "Colt," and "Thermold" mags. The Center's have preformed very well (USGI) and I use the Thermold for when I know I'm going to be shooting at 100 meters and beyond.
The Thermold's have a lip that goes around the magazine well that prevents them from being shoved up and getting a FTF. I use the bottom of the Thermold as a rest with a slip over "Mag-Pul" to act as my cushion. Very stable. I can make hits on man size steel very easliy out to 400 meters, consistantly.
The Thermold's #21 (number on their sides) was first used for Colt AR (I believe) and may not seat properly in some ARs. In my Colt or Bushmaster AR, no problems. The #22's lips were redesigned to fit into any AR.
Finally, www.ammoman.com is running a sale on "Center" mags this week for around $11/mag.
in regards to "Ammoman":

I'm not a poster boy for ammoman, but I've spent a few grand with him over the years, mostly for ammo. It was as advertized.
I had a 4 day defensive rifle class at "Front Sight" the beginning of April and I called ammoman to see if he could get a case of ammo sent to the hotel I was staying at in time (in 10 days). He was honest about when it would be shipped and he thought it would make it, but the timing was to close, and we both agreed it would still be "iffy."
I didn't read all the pages posted on the website you posted above, but what was obvious to me was the "SKS problem" was the only gripe I saw. I would think that there would have been more complaints if that was a reoccuring theme for ammoman. But the thread didn't seem to indicate that.
I only use ammoman when I can't find what I'm looking for locally.
I have 40 of the "Center" magazines coming from ammoman, (he cut the number you can order at any one time back to 5, after the first day). I'll post if they are not as advestized, if interested.

they are there, just gotta read them.
I had a "problem" with him the first (and only) time I ordered from him
There was a glitch on his website...I didn't order enough of something to get free shipping, but it still gave me free shipping
He simply canceled my order without telling me
When I called to ask when my order would ship he got fairly abusive, acted like I tried to pull a fast one somehow and made it pretty clear that I had not ordered enough to be worth his time and trouble.
Despite the fact that I never raised my voice or showed any emoition other than surprise at how he was reacting.
In my opinion it is more important how a vendor handles problems than how smoothly things run for simple transactions
All these...I never had a problem are less important than how they take care of problems.
At the time I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt...maybe he was just having a bad day.....but over time I have heard other reports of him treating customers like crrap.
to be 'fair'. I too have done business with ammoman in the past. I never had any problems. The puchasing history I have with him goes back to when things were done via email (before his website).
The linked thread above and the above posted comments shows a disturbing trend and "customer service".
I'm not telling anyone to not do business with ammoman, I'm only providing an insight as to the kind of business he runs.
You can make up your own mind.
44mag.com and dsgarms.com are good for mags, wolff springs and magpul followers available as installed options.
I have had good luck with the brownells mags as well
If you have your C&R they are less than $13
