Need a place to shoot not too far from Thornton area.

I had plans to go shooting today and all the places I had lined up fell through due to closures or my buddies not being able to head to their land. I'm looking for something about an hour or so away from north metro area.

I know left hand is closed because of the fires and I'm not wanting to go all the way up to Pawnee. Any ideas???

Does anybody know how bad it is down at cherry creel state park on a weekend day like today? Would we just be spending money to wait and not shoot?

Im in the same boat as you. Now that the north site and left hand are closed, i hardly get to go shooting. Unfortunately Pawnee is the closest that I know of. Let me know if you find a place around here.

I go off of hwy 7 thru lyons by the old allenspark range... Turn left on hwy 72 drive about a mile than turn off sumwhere and let go.... I been going for 3weeks no prob..

There's also a couple of good areas just outside of Jamestown. It's all RNF land up there so as long as you play by the 150 yardd rule you're good to go.

I read alot of Lefthand canyon was closed to shooting.. I may be wrong, does any1 have more info on that?

Cherry Creek is pretty dead on the weekdays except right before opening day.

Yes I do know all about the local ranges. Sometimes I would liek to shoot outside for free. I have been spoiled, my buddy's family has private land in Ned, we could shoot there all day long. Well he moved and I am not as close wit his family, so Ned is out. And Pawnee is one hell of a drive when you just want a quick afternoon trip.

Went out past Lyons yesterday, I have a car, wish I had a jeep or a truck, I'm an out of shape bastard. Lol
