Hey guys-

I was digging through some boxes and found these. I was wondering if anyone could give me a good idea of either a place to go here in Denver to get these appraised or if you guys already have an idea. I got these from my neighbor about 15 years ago. From what I can remember her father did service in the military. I was just seeing the value and if it would even be worth continuing. I wanted to give as much detail so i posted these to photo bucket.

Thanks !

I don't know...the leather one might have a little value, but don't set your hopes too high. If you could prove it's provenance....what it is, its age, where it came from, who used it doing what, any photos of the original owner wearing it in a plane, that would all help the value.

The green one, to me, looks like a winter liner for a construction hard hat.

Just my opinions though.

I'm no expert on these...so take my comments with a grain of salt.

First, look inside and see if there is a tag that describes the item. Anything that was actual military issue would most likely have one. Look on the insert, too. It would say something like

Flight Cap, Leather, B6 (and probably have a mfg's name, too).

I'm skeptical that this is an actual military item judging by other leather caps I've seen. Also, the AAF stars on the side and the blue button don't look military. But I could be all wet on that.

A quick Google doesn't turn up anything similar. Ebay items for US military leather flight caps aren't going for a lot. Axis stuff appears to be far more valuable.

Good luck with figuring out what you have.

Thanks for the responses. I no longer have contact with my neighbor she moved to another state a while ago. The leather cap does not have any external or internal printing or writing. The cloth cap has a half ripped tag inside that says: O.K.I SUPPLY. I did a good search but was unable to find any information that relates to this cloth cap.

Well What Carl said about the tag.

Other than that, the Star with the red dot would be Pre war and No later than April/May of 1942.

For the most part, I don't recall at anytime putting the star on a flight helmet anyway. Does it have hook up for Comm? Chances are it's a reproduction Possibly around the same time if not a little later. Still might be worth something to a real serious collector.

Dang my slow typing.[Abused]
