Yeah I don't wanna hear it. I was camping last night out on the plains. Where there's nothing to slow the wind down. No cover for the campfire so you have to dig it into the ground = not much heat. No cover for you while you're trying to stay warm around the fire = cold as hell. And my hat blew away.
I swear those winds had to be upwards of 60mph, at least.
Wind with no snow would be gooder

change of seasons in colorado.....you guys must be new to the area. every spring and fall it is like this. granted this storm is really bad.
I'd be very nervous to have a fire in that kind of wind.

Wind makes you a better rifle shooter.
The tourist goes up to the older gentleman sitting on his porch on the Great Plains and asks if it always this windy. He replies that he is 86 years old and hasn't pissed on the ground yet.
Or as an old pilot once told me, "It's a good day to go downwind."
Just stick some rocks in your pockets and you'll do fine.

That's the one thing that has me on edge, heavy wind, fire, in the hills and no where to go. I've planned well with evac routes etc but...not kidding myself. That shit comes roaring "up" with this kind of velocity behind it...I'm DOA. STILL have not picked-up my two fire shelters, a huge prep gap and shear stupidity on my part (mental note to resolve).
I live in a small canyon. The wind just blows like a banshee on days like this.
There must be small dog warnings out.

I was a genius and road my motorcycle the past two days, makes for a interesting 25 mile commute. Felt nice and sand blasted when I got home yesterday.
the chain broke on the one here at the shop in Golden...

Just to make a short walk to your vehicle with these winds howling, you almost have to be real good at doping the wind like a precision rifle shooter.[Tooth]

The reason its windier of late is that our state senators are sucking more than usual.

Now that you mention it, no matter where you are in the metro area, the wind seems to be blowing on the direction of Colfax and Lincoln....

Definitely need to be careful if you want a campfire with this kind of wind.
For mine the other night I made a Dakota-pit type fire but made it pretty deep so the wind couldn't pick it up.
At least it keeps the flies away. way away,, or hunkered down somewher.
