View Full Version : Colorado Springs Folks - Job help
Hey Folks,
Lost my job Friday the 18th out of the blue. If y'all hear of any openings anywhere, please pass 'em on to me. I'd appreciate it. I do have a MM degree, but I'm not picky at the job. I would prefer something along the lines of 8-5 M-F, but I'll take anything. I just need something... anything. If you need resume's, etc. Just ask. Thanks, take care.
Bear
After 9 months of applying for jobs with no success, I went to an employment agency. I didn't get what I was looking for, but I DID get work.

Just persevere, Bear.
I've been looking for work since Sep. Went to school, got my CDL and tried over-the-road trucking for a very short time. I liked the driving but I wasn't a good fit in the industry and I hated being away from home.
I've probably applied for 50 jobs in the last month. Now, all of a sudden, I have 4 interviews in the next week for various jobs that start at $14 to $20 per hour. I may be in the enviable position of having to choose which one I want! I can only hope.
My strategy was to check county and state job boards, internet postings, newspapers, magazines, personal networking, etc... I just started applying everywhere...jobs for which I was over and under-qualified. It was a lot of work and filling out the same information over and over was quite the PITA.
But, it's starting to pay off.
Even the online employment websites have led to lots of leads. You have to endure a few ads and lots of offers for "educational opportunity" but there are lots of job postings.
So, stick with it and start with one application. Then another. Something will come your way.

Sorry to hear that BigBear. I hope all turns out well for you. Keep at it man thats the only way to do it.
I know its not a perfect fit, as its Denver based, and I don't know your work history, but my wife had some luck with this list when we first got here.

I just think fewer people use it.

Damn sorry to hear that. We just lost about 25% of our team a few weeks ago in a layoff, but I'll keep an ear out...

Yes, my back ground concerning degrees is music. I have a BM in music education and a Masters in Performance. Most entities are just interested in you have any post grad work which is why I included the MM whether or not it has any influence pertaining to a specific job. As far as work history.... even though I'm young, I've done it all.
Flippin' burgers, digging ditches, driving bobcats/forklifts and heavy machinery, loading/driving semis (no CDL or OTR though), warehouse labor, industrial painting, oil rigs, office work, teaching, customer service and reception, etc and etc... I've literally done it all except a prison guard or military service HAHA.
Thanks for the well wishes and I'll check out the links, etc provided. I'll keep you updated.

an absolutely invaluable skill in the entertainment industry.
There are some insurance companies down in the Springs that you could probably get on with. I think American Family is one of them.
