I've been out of work for so long now I've had to make some serious budget cuts. The most recent was to return to dial up service. The only good thing about it is I have enough time between clicks to make coffee,eat lunch,wash dishes,etc.I just wonder if dial up may go the way of the dinosaur and I'll have to hand write IM's [ROFL1] Anyone else living in the dark ages ? [ROFL1]

That sucks. But I had Wildblue satellite service for a long time. That might've been worse than DU. I finally got DSL in the area about 5 months ago.

If you have a smart phone on 3G you could tether off of it. At least you would get 256k for no additional charge.

My son just got a new phone and we're looking into that.

Looked in to that,Cricket broadband not available in this area plus I don't have the extra $40 a month.

That is so true.. most people change the name and leave the password as the one from the factory.. I make it a game to break into their 'secure' networks and change the broadcast name.. admin pw.. router login.. whatever I can.. one of my neighbors sill has 'cock goblin' as his SSID for about 4 months now..

this is why I suggested asking a neighbor if you can use their wireless, tell them your situation and ask them for permisson and the wireless key. Couldn't hurt, unless the neighbors are crappy.

Actually I was only discussing the ignorance of most people in setting up their networks and inherent vulnerabilities in wireless communications.


But you go ahead and assume and read it as you wish.
