Blucore updated their website with fees and such
Pistol Range fees - $12 / hour
Rifle Range fees - $24 / hour
Can someone explain to me why rifle would be double the price? I know GMFSC did the same thing and I never understood why.

Ummmmmmm, cause it's bigger? [Flower]
Have no clue, but doesn't seem right to me.
Probably because it is one of the only 100 yard, indoor rifle ranges in town. All about demand.

The backstops have to be different. Rifles have much larger energies at the muzzle than pistols. So running rifles on the pistol range would destroy that backstop. At the last indoor range I frequented, the pistol backstops were angled steel plate, and the rifle range was a giant gravel mound. They also had 12 pistol lanes and only 2 rifle lanes.
I'm spoiled, the range hear is superb, 13 ranges with 5-12 lanes each, from 50 foot pistol to 425y. Ask Hoser, it's a great place. Oh, and guests cost $3 for the day, or come when there's an event and attend for the event cost.
H.
It's harder to stop rifle or carbine bullets, both in the backstop and otherwise. There is more ventilation needed. It takes more heating and cooling because of the larger volum of air involved. It takes more real estate and more taxes.
Because they can.
Ask them.

Touche, you are correct. I wish there was enough demand to inspire competition.

Guess I made the assumption they did not replace the backstop, which they could have. If they did not I guess it would be more of an excuse then an actual cost re-coup.

Makes more sense now (though sparks negative feelings more so towards the place):
We require you to use our ammuntion in the pistol bays. You are allowed to use your own ammuntion in our rifle bay.
Making up what they would lose in ammo purchases.

Guess I wont be going to this range.
In their defense it looks like if you get a membership you won't have to worry about it. It seems like it could pay for itself pretty quick. I don't know how much indoor shooting you do but I'm looking forward to checking this place out.

If membership allowed use of own ammo, it would be a little better. But requiring me to buy their overpriced ammo is ridiculous. What if I want to test my SD ammo and they don't carry it? What if I want to shoot subsonic and they don't carry it?
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
How are you supposed to work up your reloads?

Best response in here so far. [Beer] (Hoosier's too).

Have you heard about this place (http://www.centennialgunclub.com/), I am thinking about joining and it doesn't even open for several months and its a ways from home. Rifle range, indoors.
It is only 25 yards though.

Looks pretty sweet but only 25 yards? I'll pass. [Rant1]

I've heard that they've been taking $$ for years and haven't broken ground yet... I'm not a huge fan of some of these rules either, but I'll check it out when they open and see how it is compared to the last owners. If they don't kick me in the nuts when I walk in the door it'll be a good thing!

Doesn't BlueCore have to send a human to change the target on the rifle range too?

GMFSC did not so not sure why BC would need to, lost investment if they took those out.

they've been claiming to open for over 2 years now... They were begging for money at the last Tanner gun show. They 'have' all the concrete but haven't started building anything yet.
I personally think they are out of money and are trying to get someone to pay for their building costs before they have to bankrupt out.
Not good news.
The $24 fee for the rifle range is pretty steep. I can drive to the south site for less.

So there are target carriers on the rifle range? It's been YEARS since I was at this range. (can you tell?) I don't think I've been there since the foothills shutdown.

They sure did, I just happened to be there the day before they closed.
