I'm curious if anyone here really utilizes the stock compartments on their Magpul, Vltor or whatever stocks. If so, with what? Some manufacturers say their compartment will fit so many 123 batteries, or a complete bolt assembly. Is it really necessary to carry a complete bolt assembly with you in your GG&G foregrip? Would you ever really need a spare?

Yes, I've got a 20" Olympic and I do keep a GI cleaning kit in the stock. Why, because I can. [ROFL1] Not trying to be a smart ass, but I remember all the problems the early M16's had in Nam and figure if I need to clean it, then I can.
I've also got a Compass Lake Engineering DCM gun that I've got about 6 lbs of lead in the stock and another 3lbs of lead under the handguards. Makes for a HEAVY gun but the thing simply doesn't move when I shoot it. Which I don't much, but it's accurate beyond belief.

I do keep batteries and lens cleaning supplies in my Vltor for my EoTech, and 5 rounds of tracer in the Magpul grip (I figure if I actually ever need those rounds I'm going to be pretty friggin' lost and need to start a fire or signal an over flying commercial airliner or something)...

I've only ever used the stock compartment when I was in the service, for the issue cleaning kit. My personal rifle has an M4 stock, so that's out. I do keep some extra batteries for my Aimpoint in my MOE grip, sealed in plastic of course.

Before I took my factory stock off, I put my cleaning kit in there but once I got my Magpul it didn't have storage, but in both handles I keep batteries, a small micro screwdriver and a few other bits and pieces. A whole bolt? Nope.

The factory butt stock had a cleaning kit. Upgraded to an adjustable stock and kept 123 batteries in the little storage compartment. The most recent build has no storage compartment.

The Magpul grips usually have a firing pin, bolt assembly, and front sight tool. There is a chopped 1/2 wrench tossed in for scope mounts without quick releases.

I like the tracer rounds idea!
