I have a Win94 Canadian Centennial rifle. I looked up the serial number in a couple different databases online and they all say that serial was made in 1896.
I don't believe that for a minute.
Are there separate sets of serial numbers for different.... I dunno, anything? Its really the only number on the gun but could I not be looking in the right place?

They were all made in 1967. I don't have access to my R.L. Wilson book, but if I recall correctly the commemoratives of the the 1960's had their own serial # blocks.

The Canadians came in rifle and carbine, standard and deluxe (distinguishable by gold filled engraving and fancier wood), with special order matching consecutive serial# pairs (rifle and carbine), available.

That's the info I have in my books as well. Probably why the database(s) you're using are confused.
