for the first time! I think I peed myself. [ROFL1]

T'was fun, I think it fired about 8-10 times or so in a big hurry. But definitely something I need to practice a little more, I need to figure out how to hold it tighter. Perhaps a sling across the opposite shoulder holding the rifle up might help?

Um, this isn't a "bad" thing to do, is it? I realize it's pretty dangerous, and next time I'll get right up to the berm to make sure no bullets get away, but it's not illegal is it? Or hard on the rifle? http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b150/rinselman/smilies/fear.gif

What drove me to try it was two guys on the next range were firing what sounded like an MG, so I waddled over to have a looky at what was making all the ruckus. Turned out they bf'd a mag through an AR for giggles, so I figgered I'd try. Nice fellers, they left a big pile of shiny new .223 brass too!

As far as I know its not illegal... only one round is fired per one pull of the trigger, the mechanics/function of the gun aren't altered in any way. You're just pulling the trigger really fast.

I prefer the rubber band method, lets you shoulder it and actually aim.

no it is not illegal at all. it if a ton of fun.

with practice you can get pretty accurate and pretty good with it. I love to bump fire my Ak, it has a little slower cyclic rate than an ar, but the ar is a blast too.

just eats up a lot of ammo, but that is what happens when you have fun! keep practicing!

maybe on the next camping trip I'll try it finally ... [UZI]

Any tips or tricks ?

Rubber band method? Can you explain please? Shouldering and aiming sounds mucho better. Firing wildly from the hip ain't my thing.

Take a rubber band (I prefer the thick-banded ones, not the skinny ones), put it around the trigger, stretch it forward around the front of the magwell and back towards the trigger and put the end back around the trigger.

Oh my! [Coffee] Thanks! That might even work with my M1 carbines too. I smell a range trip coming soon.

Should work on anything that you can fit a rubber band on like that.
Now I just gotta figure out how to make it work with a semi-auto .22 (tough cause of low recoil) and I'll be set. Only thing I can afford to shoot on full auto [Tooth]

I should not have watched this video. My range trips are gonna be more expensive now

I agree, I need to get my gun to the range (with its new MRF rail, vortex flash hider and troy sights) and test those parts out, but I may bring a rubber band with me.

If you didn't want to waste money too quickly, you could always just load a mag with 3 rounds, or however many you want to and bump fire that. At least until you get the hang of it. Heck, I'll probably try it the first time with 6-10 rounds only.

Don't want to piss off the range master, lol! [M2]

As soon as you let go of the trigger or release forward pressure on the gun, it'll stop shooting. No real need to half-load your mags. Just gotta remember to let go lol.

anyone try this on a semi .22 yet like the S&W mp15-22? I'll try it next time I'm out.[UZI]

Try it and post up the results!
I'm on the fence about getting something like that and the ability to bump fire easily would push me over the fence.

i'm sending my 15-22 in for "new" springs and such. S&W rep said that the blue springs are lighter than the older ones. Maybe that would help with bump firing? I'll try and bump it before I send it out and try it again when I get it back.

Just ask the range Master first before trying it! I had a guy next to me at Cherry Creek get ejected for rapid fire!! AKA Bump Fire. Even though we were the only ones there!!

I don't think it will work very well or at all with a 22LR Not enough recoil to cycle the trigger. I tried it with my TEC-22 and 10-22 didn't work. AK, AR-15, AR-10, Mini-14, SKS, M-14 all work just fine!! [Beer]

It works great with a Walther P22 and a fake (or real) suppressor. I've seen videos of people doing this with 1911s but I wouldn't try that and I don't even remember how they held it.

As far as safety, I would say the biggest danger is ricochets. If a .223 round hits the hard ground at a nice, shallow angle, it's going to clear your backstop and leave the range. Use a very high backstop and get close to it.

I watched the video,
then my dumb-ass read responses.

Thats a negitive, M16 are meant for the government 556 round not the civilian version 223 meant for the AR15's. The 556 has more chamber pressure and firing it from a AR15 can often result in extended wear and very possible damage to the rifle. The M16 Barrel is also rifled at 1:7 (One turn every 7 Inches) the AR's tend to have a slower ratio depending which company you buy from. There are also a couple competition companies that produce a dual 556 and 223 AR ~ USAF

Well, since I've never been there and never plan to.....

I prefer to put my targets right up near the impact berm here. BLGC, range #10.

I sure do like BLGC, i've only been once, but it's a really nice range.

Something that's ~free versus something that costs $369 isn't really an alternative to me.

That was more for the OP than anyone else [Coffee]. For me, I like to try several different ways of doing things to see which one fits best for my needs.

Thanks! I remember seeing that video before, but couldn't remember the name of the contraption. I'll be trying the rubber band first, much cheaper.
