Have any of you sent your .22 back to Smith for new blue springs? Just curious if the new springs made any difference.

When did the RMGO logo AR get the UBR? Sorry, just noticed it...

Haven't had to send mine it as yet. There have been no issues but if your having problems all you need to do is contact them for the upgrades. [Beer]

Mine was one of the new ones that already had the blue springs.

I have heard of a number of folks that said it did make a difference once they got it back.

You can also buy these springs aftermarket from a number of places and just do it yourself, no down time that way.

Most folks on the S&W forum in the M&P 15-22 sub forum (http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-15-22/) are using the Yellow J P Enterprises springs (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=7582/Product/AR_15_REDUCED_POWER_SPRING_KIT) with very good success.

Hope this helps

Thanks. I thought you meant people were getting the facotry blue springs somewhere. I have not had any issues yet but have only put ~150 rounds through mine.

No problem.

The factory "blue" springs are just lighter and are bent different. The yellow JP springs are supposed to be better.

Thanks for the link-I may get them just to have them on hand. Like newracer mine's really not even broken in yet. [Beer]
add on-I thought the springs in question were for the BCG ?

I have actually thought about putting in a whole new 2 stage trigger. Maybe I'll just try this first.

I never had any problems with my pre-blue spring 15-22. Then the extractor blew out ( def. Not because of the spring) sent it back and they threw in a blue spring. Havent fired it yet since i got it back. Guess I need to remember to take it to the range next time.

It is, so Im not sure where the yellow trigger springs come into play.

I just noticed the link was for trigger springs not the BCG spring.

This is the first mention of the BCG, I didnt realize that is what you were referring to. Most folks just change out to the yellow(or blue) springs because it is a slightly cleaner lighter trigger then.

The big issue with these (and why they change out the BCG spring) is actually the extractor. When you send it in the do indeed replace the springs(so there is something visual you can see they did) and they bend the extractor inward so it grabs the rim of the cartridge better.

They dont replace the extractor just bend it into a better position. They also do test fire it a number of times to make sure its in a good position.

I didnt need the new springs, but I did get a trigger job done on mine(Bill Springfield 4lb) and took it to the range. I had probably 20 FTE and I had two OOB fires and that was enough to freak me out. I jumped on the S&W forum and started reading thread after thread. The common answer was to bend the extractor. I went back to the range and used a pair of needle nose and bent the extractor a little bit, tested it, still a few FTE. Bent the extractor a little more, tested, still a few FTE. Bent it some more. I got it! Over 100 rounds down range that day with no more issues. I have thrown about 3000 rounds down the pipe since and I had to bend the extractor one more time around the 1500 or 1600 mark but thats it.

Do yourself a favor and if your not having any issues, leave it alone and dont send it in, if you start having issues with FTE then just bend the extractor a little bit. It doesnt take much, but it makes a huge difference.

I am going shooting tomorrow, and if you like your welcome to come with and I will be happy to tweak it for you. It is really no big deal.

I hope this helps.
