Going to assume You have the old Redfield style base and rings , two screws hold the ring in the back and the front twists in .

To get more usable elevation from Your scope You'll need to go to a sytem that has angle built into the base . The easiest way is to go to a picatinny rail base and rings . There are many manufacturers that make this style and they can be had with 0 moa , flat , to 40 ish moa , angled , built in to the base .

This allows you to zero more towards the bottom of erector travel instead of the middle .

Depending on what rifle You have will determine availability .

Remington is the one that has the most options available , Badger , Seekins , Warne are a few . A 20 moa base should be enough .

EGW makes a good one, so does badger.

Here is a link to the EGW 20 moa base at Midway.

EGW 20 MOA Base Rem 700 Short Action (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=147376)

I would guess EGW would have one in stock so you might want to try contacting them. Their customer service is great. A lot of people are running these EGW bases with Burris XTR rings with good luck. I run the EGW/Burris set up on my Savage 12 in 223 and I like it.

All of my Rem 700's are Badger bases with badger rings

I'm not familiar with EGW. They look like a bargain. I might have to try them on my next rifle.

I've been using Ken Farrell Mounts on my bolt guns for years and have found them excellent. I use both the Leopold Mk4 and the Burris XTR rings (which ever happens to be cheaper that day - the quality is the same)

People have had good luck with EGW. My experience with their customer service has been great. My buddy runs one on his 700 Sendero 7mm Mag no problems. I cant remember what rings he uses though.
