The 3 I get around to are always, ALWAYS out of .44mag and .45ACP.
There's usually plenty of .223 at the one off Quebec and County Line (Quebec and C-470) though.

All kinds of good quality 9mm at good prices on Gunbroker.

I reload and rarely buy factory but bullets and primers seem to be getting scooped up pretty quick lately most places online where out of 230 grain fmj's last time i looked

I know that the Walmart by my house had a recall on .45 ACP for a while, haven't been back there in a few weeks now and not sure if it was every Walmart

Lot of times its the employees. If stock is running a little low, they will often buy it up before it ever gets on the shelves. Heard this from several different people.

Ill check the walmart in parker tonight when I go to work and let you know. People are getting ready for the summer right now. That means stocking up for the nice weather and shooting competitions. They are also getting a jump on upcoming elections. The obamanation stays in for a second term and you can bet he will try some bullshit. It won't hurt him in a second term in office. He's already hinted he wants to go after firearms and ammo.

Grand Prix Guns and Ammo were having a sale on cases of ammo last Saturday when I went in. They might still do. If I end up going tonight to possibly buy a new handgun I will look again.

I just figured it was apathy on the part of the wally world employees in my area, considering it takes half an hour to get the one with the keys to the desk who knows how long it takes the same jackass to stock it [Tooth]

Same thing here in Lakewood, jumbo walmart has ammo, 9mm, 223, 357, 38 at times, then all of the sudden, every last box is gone. It goes in waves, they will get it again, it will stay on the shelf for a few weeks and then it all goes away again. Really strange.

People are buying up the good stuff just as quick too, winchester pdxi, $18 box and it goes pretty quick.

Doesn't surprise me. There has been lots of talk of increased prices so let the panic buying begin. I am sure we will see it all at the next gun show marked up as usual.

Parker has been fairly well stocked on 9mm, some 40. Zero .45, I can assume do to the recall. However what has really surprised me, is the lack of 223. Wal Mart has always stocked the Federal 100 round value packs, however I went to buy some about a month ago, and they had zero, I haven't seen any since, in fact the only 223 I've seen, is one box of Remington UMC. I don't know what the deal is, but i'm done buying ammo, i'm going to stock up on reloading components instead.

I see lots of ammo at local gun shows,
Dicks and Sportman's Warehouse.

I'm still getting notices of sales from the online distributors. Must be a short term shortage or panic buying, not like the drought we went through. Places like Wallyworld don't stock that much so just a few people stocking up could clean out a caliber.

Not for the last month or two. I have checked several times and they are always out. Got me in the mood to just forget it and get my ass loading though.

Other than helping my father prep brass and seat primers growing up, I taught myself for the most part. Lots of research, and a text every now and then to my dad, just to double check, but that's about it. I started out with a low pressure cartridge (.45acp), and it was quite easy. At this point, i've loaded 45, 9mm, and 223/5.56, with no issues. I would certainly recommend purchasing the best equipment you can afford, but if you must slack somewhere, make sure it's not your powder measure or scale. Those IMO are the most vital components, and are the back bone of good (safe) reloads.

I'm still using a Lee Single stage press, and Lee dies, but upgraded from the Lee Scale and powder measure, to Hornady Components. I plan to get the Hornady Progressive press in the near future. If you need a hand with anything let me know.

Was it you or Ginsue that want 5.56 brass.. have couple thousands of them.

I'm pretty sure you could convince an experienced reloader on tje forum to have you over to their man cave and show you the ropes. You'd jusat have to make the appointment and drive.

Hell, I drove to the springs once just to figure out pressure canning, and more than one glock trigger job has occurred in my basement.

In all honesty I would like to run through a few hundred rounds reloading before I go buying all kinds of presses and stuff.
At this time, I honestly dont know where I would put all of it anyway.

Have you tried Precision Delta ? Vey good quality and prices. The catch is a
2K minimum order. Sorry, I haven't figured out how to insert a link.

I haven't been looking very hard, but I think the store at Hampden and Dayton is good on handgun ammo. They always seem to have a shortage of .223 target rounds though. I'll be down there Fri on an unrelated matter, I'll post what I see.

Parker walmart has plenty 9 anf 40 but only the small boxes of rem 223 and russian steel cased 45 acp. Have decent selection on the rest. Even have 7.62x39 WWB.

Byte Stryke
04-05-2011, 23:12
Ohh Gander and Sportsman's both had the 250 packs of .40 S&W in Rem/UMC for under $100
(I dont recall exactly how much)

Several online retailers have posted that they are drastically increasing their ammo/ammo component costs because of the "serious increases in the metals used to make them".

My guess is that folks have heard this and started anothr run on ammo before the prices jump.

Sorry for the delay, Wally-World at Hampden and Dayton has plenty of WWB/Rem/UMC and Federal 9mm and .40. Didn't see any .223 though.

I reload and mostly buy from zero bullets/ roze distribution. They are out of FMJ in .45 40 and 9mm because of the Libya thing and their main buyers have increased their demands on contract in anticipation. So who Knows gov contract or what, least that was what allison says.

At the last March Sertoma Colorado Springs show, I took a half a table of ammo along to sell it and sold a grand total of one (1) box. Was in Cal. .380. 9m/m,.45ACP, .223 and .308. My asking prices were between one and three dollars OVER what I actually paid for it. Now, after reading this thread, I figure I'll just hang on to it for the next BIG ammo crunch. Thank you very much.......[Tooth]

Wally world at Parker/Chambers.. had everything.. HAD.. being the key word.. I left some 9mm. Picked up 6 value packs of .380/.40/.. they were actually cheaper than the 50ct boxes for once.

They had plenty of .380 wwb.. 9mm tula.. .223.. 22 LR.. pretty much everything..they ACTUALLY moved from one ammo cabinet into two..

People are buying because it is actually becoming available.. and those of us who just happen upon it might be hoarding it.. [Muaha]
