Well sometimes you have to treat them like cats, once you spray them once or twice they'll figure it out.
Course I'd be in jail cause I'd taken away his little stick and used it on his little butt.

While I'm not that old, I do remember getting spanked at school when I was younger while I lived in georga... That didn't help me much. I think Peppered sprayed in the face is a good lesson for this kid.[Tooth]
pepper spraying a little kid with a stick was pretty stupid.
but had one officer just grabbed the kid by the scruff of the neck and given him a good hiding (like they should have done) people would still be upset about it, especially the mom.
no mention of a father. bet that lady is single for a reason.
I remember in grade school, during one of my many sojourns in the office there was a kid that was a known problem child that threw a fit.
screaming, writhing, spitting, throwing things, little guy was going apeshit.
the gym teacher (big guy) came in, scooped the kid up onto the counter, wrapped his arms around the kids legs and shoulders and held him immobilized for about three minutes.
kid stopped fighting pretty quick when he realized it was futile.
I read about this in the paper this morning, and I'm still not sure how I feel. On one hand, pepper spraying a little kid seems excessive. On the other hand, if I was the cop involved, I wouldn't want to risk getting cut by some nasty piece of wood because some little fucker is throwing a temper tantrum. The spokesman is right-this seemed like the best way to handle the situation without anyone getting hurt.

I might be a twisted individual on this, but I see nothing wrong with pepper spraying the kid. I highly dought the cop open up on fully saturated the kid with it. Even in the article the kid said
Lakewood Police Officer Steve Davis said that when they arrived on the scene Aidan told them, "I will kill you mother effers," . And its only pepper spray, I don't know how many of you have been sprayed but it has left a ever lasting impression with me, and we were just dicking around with it.. never pass out drunk on a buddies couch who's a MP...

I don't see how an 8 year old punk could stand-off a classroom full of students, and multiple teachers/administration. I don't care what he has in his hand unless it's a gun, I wouldn't feel very threatened by it. I would have probably said something to him and just walked up and taken it from him and taken him down. Then his ass would have a sentence of 200 push-ups to complete before the day is done. The pool of tears would be around a foot in diameter and I guarantee he'd never pull that stunt again.

You know I was thinking about this, and I agree. I wasn't there obviously but I thought about being in this scenario and having to grab the kid, and most likely two huge cops would harm the kid much worse by going "hands on" with him, rather than a less lethal weapon

my wife once taught at an Arizona school where she had a student who was a known violent offender. He would freak out like this kid. He had thrown desks, books, pencils, everything he could get his hands on. On many occasions it took 2 janitors, the principle, and a male teacher to subdue him and hold him down. Age you ask? 3rd grade so 8 years old roughly.
I see no wrong doing. He has an object and intends to do harm to others with it. As an officer if you step into that situation and take him down its going to be viewed as to physical. If you go in and mace him and he drops the object and starts crying and that allows you to walk up to him and handcuff him with no issue besides a little discomfort, then its viewed as excessive. I agree with what they did.
Oh and the best part? The parts of the other children cant say shit, and this kid will be allowed back into his classroom because in public education...everyone is invited!

I totally agree that the kid should have gotten a good warming.
Paddle> Pepper spray> Tazer> SWAT team shooting.
Your opinion, as worthless as it is, may vary.
Kids lucky they didn't send in the vision challenged officers,,, they'd shot his ass and said they thought he had a gun.

this thread is going to be brought back in 7 years when he kills everyone.

the should have hit him with a 12ga bean bag round! LOL.
really though, I bet the kid will think twice next time he wants to be a little shit head at school. If I would have done something like that my dad would have shaken the cops hand and then beat my ass.
Of course they will sue and win. OMG can you imagine if this kid was black! riots in the street I tell you.

I have seen his kind once before. There was some altercation between a boy and a girl his age. The wife went out to help the little girl and the boy starts that "I am going to kill you" crap. The wife was helping the girl get up and back on her bike in the middle of the street and this $hit jumps on her back and starts hitting her in the face.
One of the neighbors had called the sheriff. He even tried going after the deputy after he showed up. He vanished from the hood about a month later.

The cop should NOT have used pepper spray. He should have used a baton. [Mad]
I see way too many situations like this. The parents are unwilling to control or discipline the kids. When someone steps in, the parents go after that person. Any responsible parent would take the kid home and deal with it. This shit stain runs to the media for attention. [Roll1]
Why does the media pander to such nitwits?

It is unfortunate that the school systems have to put up with this turd of a kid. And we wonder why our kids are falling behind the rest of the world in academics.

would you like to know the real reason? In the USA every kid is given schooling and therefore every kid is tested and ranked. In other countries only their top 3-10%, sometimes less than 3%, actually get schooling, tested, and ranked. If we only tested our top 3% I bet we would be right there in the mix if not 1st. The USA is different like that.
I dated a girl from Lithuania, yes she was smoking hot, and she said she was honored and privileged to be able to attend college.
Crazy....I still think this kid needs to be taught a lesson at home. I have a feeling daddy left because the kid is a freak and mom buys him stuff and treats him "special" because she wants to either buy his love or be the most liked parent out of the two.

I hated dealing with violent kids more than anything. Much rather get into a knock-down drag-out with a guy twice my size than a kid a third my size.
Nothing you do is going to be the right thing.
So, yeah...OC the little punk til he drowns in it. Works for me.

since the kid had a weapon and verbalized threats.
No, I mean, why does an 8 year-old have to be throwing a fit before he gets a face full of pepper spray? I've met some 8 year-olds that I want to pepper spray just because of the annoying way that they play Nintendo.
Bet that fat cow of a mother will get a lawyer and sue the cops/school district. probably end op with a really nice amount of $$$$. Frank Azar will take that case, the strong arm.
In my day that little bastard would have gotten his ass paddled good with a nice thick oak paddle. I instigated a food fight in my school cafeteria- guess who got the paddle? I never started a damn food fight again.
Pretty sure we aren't taking that case.. There is something to be said about suing a city and a PD that is never beneficial.

Good call
yeah, from the video he does seem like a little shit momma's boy, doesn't he?
well at least they didn't shoot him.
i don't really care if they sprayed him or not. he sure didn't seem to have an attitude adjustment since the incident.
lawsuit will probably be filed, a settlement for an undisclosed amount will be given to the mother and they will move districts.
It would have been better had the teacher said she was going to kill him back and beat the shit out of him. I know kids will be kids, but saying they are going to kill someone, have a sharp object in their hand and calling them mother effers would give me enough cause to toss a chair and the kid and immobilize him with a few random elbows and blows being tossed in.

I agree that the problem lies in the parenting of this kid. If parents these days had control of their kids and commanded more respect from them instead of pleading with them to be their buddy, we'd have a lot less problems with "hyperactive" or problem kids these days. I don't agree that if the cop subdued him physically, it couldn't have been done without force. From an 8 year old with a stick in his hand, I am not convinced that it would be THAT hard to take it away from him and immobilize him without harming him. You don't have to punch a kid in the face to subdue him, just restrain him while someone (teacher, perhaps) helps you cuff him. I'm used to dealing with kids like this. They lash out and they say all kinds of jacked up stuff, but once you break through the tough shell and "hard ass" mentality, they're a wad of cookie dough underneath. MANY MANY times it's "daddy issues", and that's unfortunate. It happens too much these days. Not trying to be judgemental but there was no mention of a father in the article or video (to my knowledge), and his mom is an attention whore. I'm sure she just coddles him instead of punishing him. I wouldn't be surprised to find out she has no idea how to punish her child "oh, he'll be mad at me if I grounded/paddled/spanked/WHOOPED HIS ASS." Rubbish I tell you.
HAHA like I said, not trying to be judgemental. ;)

The boy is getting lots of attention. The mom is getting lots of attention and probable money. I don't think either is learning anything positive from this. And it's no surprise that the mom claims it's only a problem at school. He's a perfect little angel everywhere else. I just don't see how a single mom can raise a boy these days and have him turn out normal. Boys need a good spanking from from their dad.

You can bet the kid wasn't playing Pac Man. More likely Grand Theft Auto.
Pepper spray him, backhand him, swift kick in the ass, they'd all do the trick.
I'm only 28 and my high school football coach would occasionally take on a kid that got in his face at practice. He alway stuck to legal wrestling moves (he was the coach for that too) but he was good and could hurt you. But on one occasion a really bad kid lost the "wrestling match" and tried to pick up his helmet and hit the coach with it. The coach dropped him like a sack of potatoes and the kid took off for good. We all yelled "whoa!", the coach turned around, called a play and we went back to work on 2-minute O drills. The end.
