they have quakes literally every day. they had 15+ aftershocks last month of 7+ magnitude within 24 hours.

Too bad they don't hit just a little farther east, like Iran, etc.

And one in Mexico!
That would hurt us if one hit in mexico, I don't mean the destruction, but food prices would be hit bad. I say we just put up a "great wall" and call it good.

lots of 6.0-7.5 quakes are a good thing- they release the tension built up on the fault- when not enough slips (quakes) occur, then you get the 9.0+

and wishing one upon Mexico?

yeah, that's what we need, millions of refugees looking to us for places to live... [Stick]

Iran is also in a seismic area of the earth. they record daily earthquakes, just nothing that powerful.

No tsunami alerts issued for HI, West Coast so it should be ok. 6ft tsunami expected, a significant size down from a 10 meter one.

the world is round ain't it?

yes, but we typically use the placements as exampled, its a standards thing.
otherwise, by your logic it could be argued that Salt Lake, Utah is east of Denver, Colorado.

The map is centered at 0', and Breaks at the 180s, also known as the International date line.

We could afford to subsidize food to near nothing with the money save. If only a quake could put a hundred mile distance between us and mexico our problem would be greatly reduced.

I wasn't going to, not at first.

I really tried to resist.

Which side of the Map is Japan on? (Hint: it starts with E)
Strike two.

This is also why Most countries on the eastern Hemisphere refer the Americas "The West"

No, it has nothing to do with old Cowboy movies. [LOL]
