If you just heard a high speed projectile whizzing by followed by a long creative string of cursing.....that was probably my pivot detent! [Bang][Rant1]

I was wondering what that was. I think it bounced somewhere over by my TV.

I have a pretty good track record for finding things like this when they shoot loose inside my living room. The garage on the other hand.... well, I am still looking for a spring and a needle for my airbrush. [Rant1]

Until you have this happen you aren't a certified AR builder [ROFL1]

A little kink in a spring will cure that problem.

Thanks for the offers, after looking around for 20 min I found the spring in my living room and the detent itself had somehow ricocheted off of a couple things and bounced onto my couch.

You guys bend the spring to keep it from happening? I've always just used a razor, but was too lazy to go get one this time. (Yeah, in retrospect the 2 minutes I saved going to the garage weren't worth it [ROFL1] )

I keep a set of those gap gauges in the workbench. The come in handy for a lot of things.

At least he knows enough not to use red locktite on a barrel nut.
I think!

I just open a coil partway in the mid-span of the spring. It doesnt kink it and put a weak spot in it. Just pinch the spring near the middle and untwist it a touch.

Pshaw, I just weld it in there. [ROFL1] Never can be TOO secure.
