View Full Version : Are you banned from AR15.com?

Just curious if anyone on here has been banned from there. I've been given one temp ban, and then a perma-ban from GD. What about you?

BTW: It would've been a perma-ban from the whole forum if RidgeRunner5 hadn't pulled some strings for me.[Tooth]

I've been banned from other sites, but not that one. I don't post in, or read, GD though.

the Colorado hometown forum, has very little action. and nearly every question is from out of staters wanting information. so, no reason to look there. it sucks.

i do look at the reloading, refinishing, and 50 cal forums. almost never post though.

co-ar15.com is much better for a local board.

i would pay money for this site. but arfcom has gotten to be all about money. and more money.

AR15 isn't too bad.
I remember about 5-6yrs ago, FN Fiveseven Forum use to ban tons of people. One guy who got banned opened PS90 forum (now fn forum). Now FN Forum is more popular than fiveseven forum.

I was banned for welching on a deal even though there was no deal. The mods could never articulate exactly why I was banned. They said they would lift the ban after a few weeks, but they ignored my emails inquiring about it. That was a couple months ago now. What a joke.

There's some good info on there, but this site is better for a number of reasons, one of which is COMMUNITY. I trust the folks here and when I've purchased something (like I did last week) I trust it's as advertised when from one of the regular posters and I'll take that over a generic board any day!

They wont let me join with my yahoo email.

It took me a while to join them.
I had to initially use my company email address (back then), and change my main email address to my yahoo email on ar15com.

I had registered in 2008 to research ARs and AKs and then I paid their little fee for access to the classifieds. I let the fee expire and now I can't create a new id or anything. I don't think I was banned but who knows.

Now I only visit there if someone sends me a specific link. They are irrelevant to me now.

yeap basically the same for me. i sent the money through usps and the guy said he never got it, so i offered to send another (it was only for 60 bucks and i figured paying double wasn't a huge deal if it kept people happy). but he had alreayd opened a complaint against me without even communicating with me at all, and the mods banned me. they said i couldn't come bac until i settled the deal. i told them i offered to pay AGAIN but he declined, and they didn't care. so i told them off and have never visited the site since, that was like two years ago. im healthier not visiting there, its a cesspool and full of arrogance and pride.

I think we've had this discussion here before.

permabanned here.

someone posted a video of a large black family brawling at the funeral of an infant, and the comment I posted was "negro is as negro does"

this got me banned by a mod who is, you guessed it, black.

tried emailing the owner and he said you need to work it out with the mod that banned you, the mod that was ignoring my emails.

hell hath no fury like a brotha scorned.

a good rule of thumb is the more ads on the site, the more likely you are to be banned.

permabanned at glocktalk as well. when I first signed up there it looked more like this place. now look at it, it looks a lot like arfcom. ads everywhere.

I am much more stubborn. I had told someone I would take his item if he would meet up. He said no, and I said no thanks. He told me that he could get me banned for backing out of a deal, so I jumped first and asked the mods about abusing the "no welching" rule in order to make a sale, which is what he was doing. The entire forum jumped on me and called for me to be banned if I didn't buy the item. The mods even admitted that there was no deal to begin with because I said I'd buy it if he'd meet up, but they banned me anyway.

The EE is the only useful feature of that site, and even that is gummed up with ridiculous rules. Just before I was banned I got a great deal on some .223 ammo and a SureFire I carry every day.

here you have way less fan boys and can do sales face to face and get to know people for real. there is no comparison really. even the "good" data that is there is nearly impossible to find. you have to sift through all the garbage and BS and stupid pissing matches. if you ever try to ask about something that is off brand or less well known youll probably be ridiculed.

i am registered, but i only use the site to do more research on something i don't know much about and cant find it here! i have maybe posted 2-5 times max, i don't do deals or anything and thats about it with that sight!

I thank the Mods/creator of the sight and for the fact that someone picks up the tab to keep the board running for that fact I thank you!

I managed to ban myself when I switched to all gmail addresses. My account is totally locked. I mainly lurked there since there were lots of arbitrary rules and lots of senior types who were total jerks. I've lost my tolerance for rudeness. My boss can be rude to me since I get paid. I don't take part in any other activities that involve dealing with jerks.

This isn't limited to the gun world. There are lots of forums where people get off on dumping on others, especially newbies. For example, I recently switched my main home computer from Ubuntu to Arch Linux after an upgrade boogered it up. The Arch Linux forum consists largely of the Forum Gods dumping on newbies since their question is actually answered in some obscure Wiki page. I'll never post there again.

CO-ARF is a pretty polite place. If somebody asks a question it will be probably be answered or at worst there will be some jokes and kidding. This light touch keeps this place fun.

I was on there sometime in 2001. within a few weeks of getting my AR. So,I guess it was about May. Had maybe 3 posts. Found the Maryland AR site on msm, which eventually brought me to the Colorado AR site on msm.

Then the powers that be over there decided in about 2004/05, that everybody that had a hotmail account, must either be a troll or a spammer, So, that was the end for a bit.

2006 I got another mailbox through another gunsite I go too, and registered again. That was a "clean" acct. until, this one went down awhile back.

Think I posted in one of those "Longest with the fewest" threads, I came close to winning [Tooth] 4 years, 2 posts.

I'm sure if I still had the original, I would have won.

I admit, I read GD, more to kind of observe how their mods handle things, than anything else.

I do go to GD a lot as there is more traffic in there then here especially when its late and Im at work bored off my ass.
I just got Garand ammo from someone there and that was the first EE purchase from there in a long time.

I do prefer to get stuff from folks on here as it is much easier to deal with people on here then someone a few states away.

The folks on here are of a better class it seems 99% of the time.

The first time I got a temp ban was when I jokingly asked a mod for pics of their daughter.

The permaban came when I made comments about an arfcommer's sister in law.

Waitttt..so co-ar15 moderation IS based on Barfcom's politically correct, colt or nothing, all noobs should get temp. ban model? Let me test..

I've been temp banned a couple times there (a 24 hour ban for posting my clip photo in an EE ad, and a 99 hour ban just recently for making a religion bashing comment)

While I was unemployed, I was averaging just shy of 20 posts a day :) My lifetime average is down to 19.25 :(

I've been there for 10 years and never banned. I've been warned a few times after getting into pissing matches with idiots but I think it's pretty hard to get banned unless you either A) Spend a lot of time in the GD or B) you're looking to start an argument. It's a good time over there but has gotten a bit big for it's britches and the mods have a hard time keeping up with the trolls and teenagers looking for an AK with da beamz and bannana clips. I'm on a few other forums that I use as escapes to get away from the BS. theakforum.net is a great place and a great bunch of guys if you're into that. There's here which is a great place to see what's going on locally and for local gun sales/purchases. Just gotta make the best where you go and avoid the BS of that particular site.

ETA: I will say that ARFCOM is one of the places that allows you to post a question and get some good info within minutes almost 24/7. Sometimes you have to wade through the BS but for the most part it's a great wealth of firearms knowledge.

I’m not registered on AR15.com, but whenever I google something for my AR their site always comes up. I usually read a couple posts and then leave. It always seems like every topic turns into a pissing match between different die hard fanboys.
