Watching fox 31 news and they are saying the Japanese nuclear disaster is on par with Chernobyl. Japan is telling everyone to evacuate the area. Japan is in sad shape right now!

Japan is definitely in trouble, but no chernobyl. Different type of plant than Chernobyl, so it won't have, or shouldn't, have the same type of failure. Hope so at least...
I'll tell you what, those workers are pretty brave there and I have nothing but sympathy for what they are going through and a healthy dose of respect for those risking their lives to try to contain this.
The news is sure happy that this is happening though so they can champion their "no nuke plants" platform - makes me sick.

The report I heard yesterday is that they're still finding HOT nuclear fuel over a mile from the explosion. Since the coast is 1/2 mile away they've instituted a ban on travel and fishing in the area.....but the tuna, whales, and all the pray-fish that the larger fish eat won't honor this ban. This is far worse than Chernobyl in my opinion.
"...the pray-fish..."
Couldn't resist [LOL]

They went from a level 5 to level 7. They said on the news that every level increase is a disaster 10 times worse than before. So from 5 to 7 means 100 times worse then they thought before. Level 7 means massive radiation leaks. Just like chernobyl just without the massive explosion. I have huge respect for the workers there. They know it wont end well but they still go in to try and stop it if they can.

I think it might be worse than Chernobyl locally but it looks like it isn't putting high levels up high into the atmosphere. That part of Japan is heavily populated and if several hundred square miles is permanently evacuated that will hurt.
It might also hurt Japanese government. The people there are the definition of sheeple. They expect to be pushed around and lied to by their gov. There's been a lot of questioning of what the radiation levels really are and there is a movement to get nonofficial measurements. Mess with people's families and they get tired of government abuse.
