Absolutely! Blanks or not, I would have shit full force down both legs
I had one of my SKS do that! Scared the SHIT right out of me!! Took it apart cleaned the crap out of it and no more slam fire.
Yeah.....years ago I had an SKS that I bought used from Green Mountain Guns. It slam fired on me as well. I was at the range with it pointed in a safe direction of course and blamo....never really trusted that rifle much after that I must say.

Ahh their great weapons just have to stay away from corrosive ammo and keep em clean! Haven't had a problem since! [Beer]

Agreed.....very nice rifles! The one slam fire was the only time that happen in the few years I owned it.....I just handled it extra careful after that day.

Within about a foot, depending on the amout of powder charge, a blank can kill. The velocity of the gasses can literally shred flesh. More than one 'cowboy' stunt man has died in Hollywood from this.
I have had one slam-fire with my Kimber conversion .22LR what happened was the firing pin stop on the rear of the slide some how got pushed up causing it to lock the firing pin forward and i manually locked the slide back to change a magazine and had one live round i put in the chamber than dropped the slide to load the new magazine to my surprised it fired lucky the muzzle was pointed at the target boards as it should be!
scared the crap out of me tough! took the whole .22lr conversion a part and cleaned and than put it all back together the rear sight was a little loose its weird that they have a small set screw to keep the sight in place kind of weird! it probably has around 1000+ rounds through it, but usually thats when they get broken in and start functioning better! i will have to keep my eye on it!

they did a thing on "1000 ways to die" about that.
Guy dumped about 4 blanks from a revolver at his daughters boyfriend.
Laughing he tried to "prove" they were safe, put it to his head and pulled the trigger.

I have had doubling and a discharge on bolt release but they were due to bad trigger job, not a true "slam fire". The rifle was grounded until I replaced the trigger group.
The scary one was on bold release when it discharged about 5 feet in front of me and my son (always keep the muzzle in a safe direction).

Like many surplus guns they are loaded with cosmoliene. I have seen many an SKS go full auto because they were not cleaned completely. And that means taking the bolt apart as well. :)

A friend has/had a Russian SKS that was prone to doubling and a few triples. He detail stripped it and scrubbed it out again and again but it kept doing it. The firing pin seemed to be excessively floating. It only happened at the range pointed in the right direction. I believe he just put it in the back of his safe and left it there. He didn't want to sell it. I think a replacement bolt would have cured it.

Brandon Lee was killed by the lack of an armorer being hired to maticulously oversee the use of firearms on the set. Subsequently, a bullet from a poorly made 44 mag blank for a close up shot lodged in the forcing cone of the revolver during an early shot scene. The gun was later used to film another scene using fully charged blanks for the recoil and muzzle blast effect. The scene was when the character Eric Draven comes home to find the four thugs in his home after they raped his wife. The actor Michael Massee shot the gun and Brandon hit the floor as rehearsed. The film kept rolling. Nobody knew what happed for a minute. They thought it was very good acting. Then they figured out Brandon was seriously injured. He died early the next morning from blood loss and a bullet lodged in his spine.
Very sad.

Any military weapon. Seen this with M16's, AKs, SKS', etc. The ones with floating firing pins are the worst for this.

Lol my old Mosin-Nagant used to kinda slam fire. It would discharge when you closed the bolt. Bass Pro Shop fixed it for free for me.
