Do any of you wear an ankle holster? Any suggestions on a good one?

For work I have to wear button up collared shirts that I have to tuck in. I have some nice Liberty IWB holsters, but as you know you still print a little when your shirt is tucked in, so I was thinking about a nice ankle rig. I have a Walther PPS I would use in it.

Thanks

i use the DeSantis ankle holster for my J-frame

they are cheaper at Jensens. maybe $52. I can work under the truck, work the horses, throw hay, work etc, and it stays put. and comfortable.

Galco on the ankle.

Calf strap.. very important if you don't have cankles.

I've been using the Bianchi for my J-FRAME daily. I forget I'm wearing it. I even use it when I am running.

Great holster. I don't have cankles, nor do I need a calf strap. My J-frame rides so well in it I regularly forget I have it on.

I tried the Galco and it looked like I was under house arrest.

The G27 keeps sliding down.. I do look like i'm on house arrest when it does that.

I just can't imagine that an ankle holster wouldn't drive me insane after just a few short minutes.

You sure you couldn't make a good tuckable holster (like a CSBT (http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/Holsters/IWBInsideWaistBand/tabid/56/CategoryID/1/List/0/Level/1/ProductID/1/Default.aspx?SortField=UnitCost+DESC%2cProductName )) with Velcro "back-of-the-belt" clips (http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/Holsters/IWBInsideWaistBand/tabid/56/List/0/ProductID/8/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName%2cProductName) work?

That was my answer. Pocket carrying was too many sacrifices and not comfortable and ankle holster didn't work either. I could IWB carry my G19 easier and more comfortably.

Ankle makes sense for a backup (or a primary when you can't carry) if it works for you. If it doesn't work for you...it doesn't.

I'm not so much worried about the IWB holster, I have some nice and I wear them when I am not working and done HAVE to tuck my shirt in. I'm not worried about the clips on the outside of my belt, I'm more worried about the printing on my shirt.

Ok, so maybe this is a stupid question, but I dont know anything about these ankle rigs. So where do you guys where these? Meaning, if you are right handed, do you wear it on the outside of your right ankle, or on the inside of your left ankle. Also in conjunction with that question, do you have a right handed, or left handed holster?

Thanks again for all the info.

Hey, if you have any pics of this too that would be cool.

They won't let me wear combat boots to the office.. But I do get to carry.. so.. it's a fair trade.. sissy shoes for a gun :)

Right handed shooters generally carry on the inside of the left leg, and I think that's consistent with the holster manufacturers nomenclature. Better check, though.

I've carried J-Frames, baby Glocks, and even a 3" 1911 on my ankle. The Kimber was the only one I found uncomfortable, and that was only when I had to walk a lot.

I've been interested in one of these. It has a waterproof barrier to keep moisture off your gun, and some models have an extra pocket behind the gun for documents, money, etc. http://www.smartcarry.com/products.html
