Was looking for an AK to replace the one I sold a few weeks ago.
Well I scapped up a few more bucks to pick this baby up today.
Got it at Dragonmans so you might have seen this one hanging on the wall.
I broke it down, cleaned it up and oiled her down. Then stripped the rough lacquer finished, sanded the wood and put on some mahogany stain and couple of gloss coats(not to many, this is for shootin'!).
Next step is to polish the bolt carrier and look for a nice carry strap.

I will call this one Jeb after Patrick Swayze in Red Dawn.

Looks good. So is that actually a dragunov?

BTW once I remembered where your quote is from I chuckled... but just for a second.. as I often chuckle when I'm reminded of that guy but I don't want to jinx myself.

No, this is a RPK. Not the Sniper Rifle....those cost waaaayyyy to much!

Oh ok. I just noticed the longer looking barrel and butt stock and thought dragunov because I'm not so familiar with the what the RPK is all about.

RPK= light squad machine gun. SAW would be the NATO counterpart.

TeamRico-you need a 75 round drum for the right effect!

looks like a Romanian AES-10 RPK... I agree, needs a 75rnd drum to look right

a bit lighter than the Yugo, with a chrome lined 23" barrel for more velocity

nice rifle, would like to get one of these sometime, or a Yugo equivelent- the M72... but they don't have chrome-lined barrels, and are frequently shot out

If I can get one for it one day I will. That is a 40 round mag and I like the look.
If ammo comes down in the future then I will let 75 rd fly through it more often! She is unfired at this time.

I like the fact that I can defend freedom with a communist designed weapon!

hey rico, how has your rpk been? have you had a chance to get to the range and send some lead down the pipe?

Took it to the South Site Friday, put a few mags down range. Fired flawlessly!
Used a Tapco 30rd and Metal 40rd Mag to test the functionality of each. No problems, well minor feed from the 40rd mag, had it loaded and stored to long, that might have been the issue.
Operated Smooth, no jams from the 130 rds of steel cased ammo.
Was dead on at 75 meters using the bipod and also from the hip shooting at an "Ivan" sillouhette.
Next upgrade is a rubber buffer when I find another.
Posted some video on my FaceBook if you are interested.
PM and I will send you the link later.
