I tried drawing my gun. It doesn't work and it sucks. I also tried switching one of my IWB holsters to left hand. That was a mess as well. Fortunately it's not broken, and I should only have this splint for 7-10 days. I was totally mentally prepping myself to do the next Clear Creek match left-handed.
I've actually fractured my hand before, and it didn't hurt near as bad as this did. I swore in front of children, and then had to go lay on the dirty floor near drinking fountains to keep from vomiting. I also heard/felt a sick "pop" when it happened.
After getting wrapped up at the Trauma Center (sounds a bit dramatic), we went back to Monkey Bizness and spent a few more hours there. When it happened, it was my first pass down the slide and we had only been there for like 20 minutes.
Dang that sucks! hope the recovery is quick!
I guess there are upsides to not being able to be within 100 yards of a school or a chuckie cheese!
Depending on what you carry, I have a spare lefty holster for a 1911. I'd let you borrow it.

? An imaginary dinosaur chased you down an inflatable slide and you jacked up your hand trying to get away from it? [ROFL1]

Holy Geesus!
you are totally not allowed to open a thread like that anymore.
I half expected this to be about how you got a free porn subscription or you wife being out of town.

Thanks for the offer jmg8550, but I don't carry a 1911.
I was trying to keep my shirt down as I went down the slide in a manner that was against the rules posted on the sign. When I got to the bottom, while traveling at about 370mph, my body whipped around while my hand was wrapped up in my shirt. It apparently did bad things to my thumb. This is the same reason I stopped doing back flips off of swings at the play ground while carrying. Always having to keep that shirt down.

Speedy recovery to you. And stay off the kiddy toys.[ROFL1]
I told our friend that we were going back after we left the doctor, and she said, "You show that slide who's boss!"
We were there for a play date with said friend and her daughter, but they had to leave before we got back. I already got my splint signed by both my fiance and our daughter!
did notice your posting is down a bit tonight... hard to type one handed
sorry about the injury. hand wounds are the worst you really do not know how much you use both of them until they are gone
I'm just having trouble not being able to use the space bar with my right thumb. Keep having to edit, and the stiff splint keeps my thumb sticking out over the keyboard. It gets in the way. The worst is trying to text, which is all thumbs.
Thanks for the well wishes guys. It actually doesn't hurt much anymore. It makes me feel like a wuss, because if it felt like it does now, at 9:30 when it happened, I never would have gone in. All I've had for pain was 2 Ibprofuen all day. Keeping it immobilized helps the most.
I also didn't post a lot because our shows were on tonight. Modern Family for the win!

Sorry to hear this Stu. Hand injuries majorly suck.
I broke BOTH of my hands in a motrorcylce accident back in 2000. Pins and plates and the whole bit. What I found out is just how much my wife loves me when I realized that without an available wrist (both hands/arms in casts), certain hygiene tasks (hint: in the "library") are impossible to do for yourself.
Of course, it certainly helps at keeping the booger picker off of the bang lever when it won't fit inside the guard; eh?!

uh oh Ginsue is going Canadian...
his index is still unwrapped but safety lever manipulation might be hard[Beer]
I took a nap in the car today and it was awesome because the hard splint makes it so I can sleep in any position without feeling anything.
Also, I wouldn't wish wiping my ass on my worst enemy. I hope you bought her a flower or two after that Thom.

Oh man, it went on for over a month before there was enught room inside the casts for me to bend my wrists enough to.. you know.
I think I'm STILL payin her back for that!
She used to have to come home on her lunch hour just to take care of me. Due to the broken ribs, etc. and the fact that with 2 broken hands I wasn't legally allowed to drive, I was stuck at home for 6+ weeks.
It wasn't until well AFTER all of this that I found out htat you can equip your toilets with bidet's. That would have been especially helpful.

Ginsue, get a supertuck man. If I am going to be doing "Activities" I just tuck my shirt in, but leave it "ballooned" So I don't print.
I offer this service a tad late, I know.
:D
It is good to be ambidextrous grasshopper.
Get a lefty holster for the M&P, switch the mag release, and shoot your next match southpaw just for the practice! If you really wanna make it more fun, put an eye patch over your dominant eye. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst...
Hope you're feeling better soon, my friend!

Good chance to practice off-hand, never know when your dominant hand could be disabled or otherwise occupied (get yer mind out of the gutter)
I've always shot rifles left-handed (I'm right handed, but left eye dominant)...
but since I started shooting pistols, I've always trained with both hands...
For example- when riding my motorcycle, I keep my CCW left-hand accessible... if I have to draw before I'm off the bike, I'd rather have my throttle & brake hand on the bars still- I can live without the clutch for the most part.

That sucks. Get better soon Stu. I hope it doesn't slow down the interesting threads you start. We need to be kept entertained :)
I thought about going out and getting the cheapest left hand holster I could, but I don't really have any money.
Ron, thanks!
TFog: I would do that, but I don't want to out shoot Cha-lee and embarrass him. ;)
About last year May, I had a 2month of pain on my right wrist. I went to hand surgery and associates, and told me my recovery period is about 6weeks.
Good that I practiced drawing from support/reaction hand (left hand). :D
I never thought I'd have a use for a Benny Hill soundtrack. Then I did some weak handed land scape work today. Pounding 3' rebar into the ground, through a plank, with a 3lbs sledge hammer = awesome.
