Can not have ... foreign made after 68 ... not importable before the 86 FOPA closed the MG registry so none made it in.

If you want one you'll need to become a Class III dealer and then find someone who can buy one to write up a letter saying they want to see one demonstrated so you can buy one as a "dealer sample".

Otherwise forget it serf ... no machine gun happiness for you.

Unless you can get the Hughes Amendment to the 86 FOPA overturned (please leave the rest of it in place thankyouverymuch) ... and then get FN to make them stateside (which they might now anyway, but I don't know) or overturn the 1968 Gun Control Act and all the different import restrictions.

if you had enough money to buy the weapon I have the feeling the cost of ammo would be a non-issue.

PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE FN HERSTAL, M249/MINIMI 5.5.6mm BELT FED MACHINE GUN -- NEW IN BOX, SEALED IN FACTORY PLASTIC VACUUM PACKAGING, THIS FIREARM IS A SIGHT TO BEHOLD!! THE GUN IS 100% FLAT OUT NEW. THE MINIMI HAS ALWAYS BEEN A ELUSIVE GUN FOR BOTH COLLECTOR AND DEALER ALIKE AND THE M249 SAW IS ONE OF THE FIREARMS THAT WE ARE OFTEN ASKED ABOUT, SPECIFICALLY ARE THERE ANY AVAILABLE & TRANSFERABLE, TO WHICH THE ANSWER IS NO. THE GREAT DESIRE TO OWN THIS TYPE OF MACHINE GUN STARTED ONCE THE US MILITARY ADOPTED IT AS THE STANDARD SQUAD AUTOMATIC. OF THE LIMITED NUMBER OF FN MINIMI's PRE/ POST 86 DEALER SAMPLES, ALMOST ALL WERE THE MINIMI MODEL. TO THAT HANDFULL OF GUNS, A FEW OWNERS ADDED HEAT SHIELD HANDGUARDS TO MAKE THEIR FIREARMS LOOK LIKE M249 SAW's BUT IN FACT THEY STILL WERE IN THE STANDARD MINIMI CONFIGURATION. THIS GUN IS FACTORY BUILT BY FN AS AN M249 AND IS FACTORY PAPERED AS SUCH. WHILE SALE IS LIMITED TO CLASS THREE DEALERS, THIS WILL PROVE TO BE A VERY PRUDENT INVESTMENT WHILE BEING THE HIGHLIGHT OF A DEALERS COLLECTION AND INVENTORY. THIS M249 IS SEALED IN THE FACTORY PACKAGING, INNER PACKED IN THE VACUUM SEAL GOVT BAG WITH ORIGINAL COMPLETE INSERTS. THE BBL AND HEAT SHIELD/HANDGUARD IS STILL IN THE INNER BOX SEALED AS WELL, ALL IN PERFECT CONDITION. IT HAS THE 1913 PICATINNY RAIL TOP COVER, SYNTHETIC BUTTSTOCK AND HYDRAULIC BUFFER, ALL THE UPGRADES WHICH DIFFERENTIATE IT FROM THE OLDER MINIMI. DON'T LET THIS GEM PASS YOU UP, YOU WILL HAVE A PRUDENT INVESTMENT WHILE HAVING SOMETHING GREAT. MANY OLDER USED MINIMI MODELS HAVE SOLD FOR PRICES NEAR 70k, LESS THEN A YEAR AGO --- THIS GUN IS ONE HELL OF A BARGAIN. ONLY ONE AVAILABLE , IN STOCK AND READY FOR TRANSFER. HAVE THE BEST. get FN to make them stateside (which they might now anyway, but I don't know) or overturn the 1968 Gun Control Act and all the different import restrictions.

They are a U.S. Military service weapon, so I believe law requires them to be made in the U.S.A.

I know FN has fairly large factory in the US, Hernandon VA if memory serves.

Quite disappointing as a YouTube video. This guy obviously doesn't know the rules!

-1 he never pointed the gun at himself
-1 he never pointed the gun at the camera
-1 he kept his finger off the trigger until ready to fire
-1 he fired from the shoulder and not the hip. Actually, that's a -5
-1 he aimed
-1 he used controlled bursts

[Coffee]

But +1 for a cool video!

[ROFL2] Good call! Youtube should take that video down! A bad influence on the rest of us that follow the rules!
