Hey Guys,

I've had a few posts off and on. New to the forum, but not to firearms.

Joined the forum as I was looking for an AR. Ended up picking up an SKS for a month shot that, great gun, but not what I was looking for. Just sold it back to the guy I bought it from and now looking for a new or lightly used AR.

Looking for HD and target rifle/carbine. Been looking at a lot of things, was hoping to pick up a lower last week and build one but work took me out of town so wasn't able to get it done. Add that to what seems like a 4-6 wait for a complete upper kit, I am now looking for a complete rifle now.

Talked to Anthony over at R.A.R. guns today and looking at one of his complete guns. The others in the running are possible M&P 15's.

I am really looking for a good reliable AR that I can base other future upgrades on.

Got about $800 to spend. If anyone has any pointers I would greatly appreciate them.

Look forward to being part of this forum.

Thanks!

Brandon

If you are looking at the M&P 15's, I love my M&P15T.

Welcome.

My $.02 Buy a stripped lower and build it the way you want it for the prices you are willing to pay. Plenty of deals to be found. Then find a complete upper that meets your needs and price point. Remember to budget for your sights/optics. If you get something wrong, sell those parts and replace with something else. If you get stuck or need help, there is plenty to be found around here and some great gunsmiths available, i.e. Bowers Tactical and BP Tactical to name a few.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I keep hearing build it myself. Maybe that is the best option.... Decisions decisions.

Maybe this is the right way to go.

Welcome to an almost 2 year "newbie" to the site.

So many decisions. Buy a new one and get a gun NOW with a warranty, or build your own and get exactly what you want, knowing all about what makes it tick, etc.

It's enough to make your head hurt.

Seriously! I like to know how things work, so I am going to build.

Should be fun. Looking at the lowers from Rev and will start there.

Welcome aboard

I will echo what has been said already...build you own, then you know everything about it.
