View Full Version : Pueblo IDPA, May WITH PICS
This Sunday there will be a six stage IDPA match in Pueblo. Stage set-up and the "New To IDPA" class starts at 7:30 and the match starts at 9:45. Show up before 8:00 *and* help with set-up and we knock $5 off the already unbelievably low $12 match fee. The knife sheath is yours to keep...
There will also be an optional rifle/carbine side match following the main match.
Hope to see you there, Mothers Day was last Sunday, no more excuses.
A great time was had by all. 34 people, 12 of them new shooters, got up early on a Sunday and came out to play.
Yesterday we all learned what the "I" in IDPA means. Ingrid traveled all the way from Munich, Germany to shoot with us. It was her first IDPA match ever and she did outstanding. We all wish you luck at this weekends Colorado State IPSC Championship Match and all the other matches that you will attend on your American Shooting Vacation.
Six stages were set-up, one of them being a blind stage. 19 people shot the rifle/carbine side match stage.
Next month there will be a BUG side match and we will start at 9:00 so we are off the range by the time it starts getting too hot.
Pics of squad one at yesterdays match will be added shortly.
Getting psyched up to shoot his first IDPA stage ever, so step back camera dude...

Lateral movement was the name of this stages challenge, that and strong hand only shooting. http://coloradoshooting.org/ipw-web/gallery/albums/Match-Pics/IDPA_Strong.sized.jpg
CDP match winner Erin engages the threat targets with his SigP220 while getting to cover. This stage
tested shooting while moving. Thats me in tow with the timer.

Now that Matt is at cover, time to reload and get back to shooting.

Stage 4 not only tested one handed shooting, but while kneeling you had to maintain control of your
baby monkey while shooting the bad guys.

What is a "blind stage"?
What is a "blind stage"?
A Blind Stage is a stage where you have no idea what the stage looks like, how many targets, how many shots, ect.
You walk up and face a wall or a door that hides the stage from view. You load up and wait for the buzzer. Our top berm is almost completely enclosed, so it isnt hard to hide it.
Once you shoot it, you become a stage helper. Till a few people have gone through it, the SO is real busy.
They take a long time so we dont do them that often, but it is a real good test of the level playing field theory.

Matt here, I was one of the new shooters this past weekend. I had a great time and will definitely be back for more matches. I learned a lot, especially the speed limitations of Australians reloading my magazines. Next time I will have 3 mags . Thanks to all the IDPA staff for setting these events up.
Also thanks to the guy who loaned me a holster (Mr. Green SAR T-Shirt, sorry I suck with names). You left before I had a chance to return it, so I gave it to Tom aka Hoser. Hopefully you guys can link up.

Already taken care of. No worries. Judson has his holster. Now beating the man who lent you a holster is a slight party foul...
Matt you did great. That little Sig of yours treated you well. Out of 20 people in your division, you were 8th. I think it was the underpaid professional instruction you recieved.
Good to know you will be back. Dont forget to bring the Aussie, Mrs Huff, mag pouches and lots of mags.

You know, I was wondering earlier if the H stood for Hopkins. LOL
Yeah it's me. So you must have traded in your bike hobby for a gun hobby??? Cause from what I hear you don't ride no more ('cept tractors). ;)

Already ordered a third mag and a dual mag holster. I will be good to go for next month.
We will (hopefully) have another newbie, a guy we work with is an avid shooter and wants to come to the next event. I took my CC class with him, he's a good guy.
