Please correct me if I'm wrong: I can carry concealed like I do here in Colorado in Utah and Arizona, but before I get to Nevada I should secure my firearm in a lock box in the trunk of my car. Then when I get to the hotel I'll secure it in the room safe.
Also, is there a way to become licensed in Nevada by taking some sort of additional class?
Thanks in advance
You are correct, but be sure to check out the carry restrictions and requirements for Utah and Arizona on handgunlaw.us (http://www.handgunlaw.us/) .Utah in particular is a little different concerning exactly where you may carry. Nevada now requires you to take your course (including their joke of a live fire qualification) IN Nevada, unless you have a permit from a state they share reciprocity with.
I always call the state attorney generals office. They will put you in touch with the right person. They will not treat you like a criminal either. I called Utah Highway Patrol many years ago and the lady wanted to know what kind of car I was in, license plate etc. That is a little too intrusive. I wonder if I would have given her that info if I would of been pulled over?

Nevada does offer permits for non residents ... you have to apply in person with the local sheriff. Wouldn't be worth it unless you intend to go to there a lot (my brother is moving to Las Vegas so I'm considering getting a NV Non resident permit since I expect I'll be visiting often).
Also note that the NV CCW requires you to register each gun you wish to carry to your permit and shoot a qualifying with each one (that's why there's no reciprocity with Colorado ... we don't require a qualifying shoot).

Just so you know in the city of North Las Vegas (a suburb of Las Vegas) it is illegal to have a gun in your car. The ONLY time a gun is allowed in a car in that city is if you just purchased it, and are on your way home (better have some proof) or on your way to or from a gun range.
Avoid that mess if you can.

Wholly shit batman, how is this possible?
North Las Vegas Warning: The incorporated city of North Las Vegas has a city ordinance that prohibits the transportation of loaded guns in vehicles. Although this ordinance is in violation of NRS 268.418, the City of NLV has simply decided to ignore the state law. You may be cited, arrested, and prosecuted by the City of NLV for violating this ordinance (even though state law says they can't have the ordinance in the first place). A lawsuit has been filed against the City of NLV in Nevada District Court seeking to have the ordinance repealed.
WTF??? I checked the route and I'll be on RT15 which passes through North Las Vegas. Guess I won't be stopping until I'm in the Las Vegas city limits
Also in violation of Federal Safe Transport protections...
