For those of you who have a 20" AR, how do you like it? If its 1/7 twist rate, do you get better accuracy out of 77 gr ammunition? Do you have a set up like a designated marksmen rifle? Did you throw a non magnifying sight like Aimpoint or Eotech on it or throw an ACOG on it or a regular tactical scope or hunting scope on it? Let me know how you really feel about them!!!!!

I traded for my first ever 20" AR and I have always had 16" and figured if SHTF I wouldnt engage bad guys out any further then 300 to 500 yards and felt confident with 16" ARs to get the job done.

Here is a pic of it and I am anxious to get out and throw some rounds down range this weekend. Pkum Crazy lower and unknown Upper but has 1/7 and 5.56 on barrel. [Beer]

I like my 20 inch a lot. I set mine up like an M16A4. It currently sports an ACOG I recently purchased off a member here. Barrel is 1/7 twist and the rifle is zeroed for 62gr ammo. I think my M4geries are better suited for SHTF in an urban setting but I wouldn't feel at a disadvantage if all I had was my 20 inch.

my bushy is a 20, i have an eotech 512 on it,

very accurate gun, the range closest to me maxes out at 300-400 feet so i really haven't had the opportunity to really test her out.

I have a '94 Colt that I bought new. I put a cheap scope on it for varmint hunting but I'm not crazy about the mounting options. I have one of those handle mounts and it's always coming loose. Of course there are inherent inaccuracies with that type of mount as well. I didn't want to pour a ton of money on mods so I bought a PWS MK116 and LOVE it. I'm now thinking of selling the Colt since it has value in states that like to ban things.

I don't see any point in putting on more than 4x. After doing a lot of terminal ballistics study on 5.56 ammo, there isn't much point in trying to go past 200 yards. If you want it for just competition and target shooting, by all means, go for it but if distance with accuracy and lethality is important, you're going to want a different platform and caliber.

I appreciate al the input and gives me a better feeling then I already had, rifle hasnt left my side since I received it HAHAHA, and super excited to go to the range with it.

Well tomorrow is the big day to head to the range with my new to me 20" and excited from the posts of some of you. I dont have the cash to get the 77gr stuff, but will slowly buy 40 to 100 rounds a paycheck or a month until I have enough to make me have the warm and fuzzies for when the hordes of zombies show up[ROFL1][M2][Beer]

I will post some after action pics [M2]

For those of you that have a 20" A4 upper w/ a 1:7 twist, what brand is it? Where did you get it?

I wanted one with a 1:7 twist a few years ago, but couldn't find anything that wasn't a match type SS barrel. I just wanted a standard chrome or chrome-moly lined one. I ended up with a nice Rock River, but it has a 1:9 twist barrel.

Thanks,
Storm

I have a 20" 1/7 barrel. I haven't shot 77 gr thru it, just 62gr and 55 gr. I'm really happy with the performance of the 62 gr though. I have an Aimpoint mounted on the rifle but for target shooting/marksmanship I would rather use the buis.
