I just finished an AMD-65 and had to take it to the range. Went to the south site. It sent 150 rounds downrange without a failure. A real AK!

This is a great quality kit I got years ago. Looked unused.
For the evil 922R compliance I used:
NDS receiver. Waffenworks had a special om them a while ago.
Tapco gas piston.
Tapco single hook G2 FCG. (3 parts)
Ak-Builder Extended Muzzle Brake - It looks more like the original than the Tapco
I used a Yugo sling swivel for the rear.
Robert at BP Tactical did a perfect job of blind pinning the brake so it is not an SBR.
I added an MPK2 side rail from Collectors Source DFW. It is nice. I'm clumsy with a Shepard's Crook to retain the FCG and wanted to use the RSA retaining plate. The side rail works from internal screws which would have obstructed the plate. I moved the rail 1/4" forwards which let it work. It needed a little grinding to work I also had to grind a slot in the plate but it holds the FCG, especially after 150 rounds.
The front handguard took a little fitting. When I pressed the barrel the headspace was perfect with the pin hole so no work there, just press the pin back in.
I really thought I'd lost it doing final assembly last night. The Tapco Single Hook G2 was defective! After a couple of hours of struggle I opened another one and the dimensions were different! I popped the new one in a couple of minutes and it worked. I'd heard about a G2 recall but never read it. There are bad ones. I do like them. The hollow tube makes installing the trigger group a snap. I had no trigger slap.
I did a rough adjustment on the scope but it didn't work at all at the range. It needs more adjustment. I used the iron sights and hit the target.
I messed the pad up trying to remove it. I'll either fix it or replace it.
Real fun. I have a couple of Romy G2 kits almost ready and will be doing those next.
