Back off your powder charge till it feels good and cycles the gun.

I shoot a lot of the 185 HBRN in my GAP ammo In fact, it is the only bullet I have tried. Not the most accurate bullet, but I have not noticed any pressure issues in my 45 ACP ammo compared to non hollow base bullets.

If you're squishing primers, you're too hot. Coupled with the increase in perceived recoil, I think you can be confident you're over pressure.

I've not loaded GAP, but in a .45ACP, the amount of powder in the case is so tiny it's almost unnoticeable. I wouldn't worry to much about free volume in the case.

So, can the 45 GAP handle more pressure than ACP? I usually load much less than that for ACP.

I'd have to dig a little to find appropriate charges (just realized you were talking bout .45 GAP), but you won't hurt anything by backing off some. Flattened primers (assuming the pockets aren't loose or anything) in a straight walled pistol case is bad news. Chronos do come in really handy...

As far as your first question, I shoot Unique in .45 Colt... even at max there's a ton of room left in the case, and compared to many powders it's not particularly position sensitive.

I'll try to get back to this one later when I can have a few sources in front of me. My gut is telling me you should be trying something a little faster burning, but again, I'll check.
